🌊🏨 According to the Foreword in the 2024 Hotel Yearbook by Prof. Dr. Willy Legrand on Unlocking ESG Innovation in Hospitality, key figures in the hospitality world find that the hotel world is often complicated to manage, because of the multitude of stakeholders along the value chain. Megan Epler Wood suggests that the hotel world work on key sustainable infrastructure challenges and urgent climate resilience approaches, by focusing first on the conservation of vital coastal ecosystems as one top issue for the hotel world. It is important to remember that 50% of all tourism transpires on coastlines. Epler Wood suggests that hotels work very soon on more cooperation with destinations to preserve coastal areas to achieve resilience and preserve their bottom lines. One way to achieve this, she writes, is to work with major NGOs, such as the Nature Conservancy to invest in climate, nature, and resource efficiency projects at scale via public-private partnering at the local level. As a global promise and commitment of Accor for the entire chain to become carbon net zero by 2050, including 46% emission reduction by 2030, we with our hotels in Lviv are also keeping up with #sustainability goals and continue to enhance and implement best practices, that limit the impact on environment and society. Among those practices are 100% reduction of single use plastic, energy and water saving equipment, resource saving programs, donation programs and much more. #greenkey certification is proof that we are on the right path of sustainability and encourage others to implement as much as possible actions and goals of making our planet a better place. Interesting fact: Accor was the first international hotel group to make a long-term commitment to decarbonize all of its operations by 2050.
Exciting news at #ibisstyles_lvivcenter Hotel! 🌿 Thrilled to share that we've earned the prestigious Green Key eco-label certification, a proof of our commitment to sustainability. From energy-efficient practices to waste reduction, we're taking strides towards a greener, more responsible future. Join us on this eco-friendly journey! #Sustainability #GreenKeyCertified #IbisStylesHotel 🌍

"Eco-Friendly: How Sustainability is Redefining Tourism and Hospitality" People today are more aware of the activities and organizations with which they associate or participate. We are becoming more aware of our impact on the environment. Some hospitality firms are reducing their carbon footprint by implementing sustainable practices that focus on waste reduction and energy efficiency. Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is a famous example, identifying itself as an eco-friendly and sustainable enterprise. They have implemented recycling systems and green roofs, and some even have bee colonies. Every one of their hotels is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, putting them among the leaders in ecologically aware building methods. While deploying new systems may incur some initial costs, the benefits are vast. Fairmont's green roofs, which support thriving bee colonies, contribute to the health of our environment. The benefits of sustainability far outweigh the initial cost. In conclusion, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts exemplifies how sustainable practices can be seamlessly integrated into the hospitality industry, demonstrating that proactive environmental stewardship not only enhances operational efficiency but also fosters a harmonious relationship with the natural world. Through these initiatives, Fairmont sets a commendable precedent for others in the sector to follow, paving the way toward a more sustainable future. #HOTL752 #Sustainability #EcoFriendly Prof Sara Harrel

Chief Executive Officer at World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance | Taskforce Chair at Sustainable Markets Initiative | IMAGINE Leader | Global Top 30 Champion of Environmental Sustainability in Tourism and Hospitality
Throughout my career in #sustainable #tourism and #hospitality, #waterscarcity has remained a prominent issue, and this has only worsened over time. #Water-related risks are a #localisedissue, so while some #communities are facing devastating impacts, others have not yet been affected. However, even in areas where there is low #waterstress, it’s important to consider the #embeddedwater which goes into the products and materials we purchase and consume. In order to advance our collective journey to Net Positive Hospitality, it's essential that #hospitalitycompanies consider the level of water stress in their location, as well as across their #supplychain. As #WorldWaterWeek comes to a close tomorrow, it's vital that #hospitality companies continue to measure their #wateruse, incorporating water conservation and the mitigation of water-related risks into their #ESG strategies. By acknowledging and understanding water-related risks, we plan intelligent and inclusive growth, conserve #freshwater sources in the communities surrounding #hotels, and create a lasting positive change for guests, employees, and local stakeholders. To support these efforts, the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance is pleased to share a new #blog, guiding hotels on the steps they should take to act as good #waterstewards, and highlighting key #tools and #resources to inform a #strategic approach. 🏢 "For every new hotel built I know that we're taking away resources from people who don't have access to it" 😦 Blunt and Honest Words by Accor CEO Sebastien Bazin in a very insightful discussion with Charlène DESCOLLONGES during one of the highlights of ChangeNOW about #Water 🚰 And water scarcity and stress is not just a problem "elsewhere" - it touches us right here in Europe too. In a regulated cycle, water can recycle itself up to 8 times on land - with current prolonged droughts followed by strong rains this balance is severely impacted - causing us to lose freshwater budget. 💦 One of the solutions: Increase and protect #wetlands - as a bonus they also have huge #biodiversity and #carbon benefits and are my personal #nature hero for the work we do with EcoTree International and EcoTree France #nbs #climatechange #naturebasedsolutions

EU taxonomy, ESG, SDG, CSR, etc. - the hotel industry has to meet high requirements, regulations and standards. At the same time, however, the full comfort for the guests must be maintained. With our water and energy saving system, we offer the perfect solution for the hotel industry - reducing water and energy consumption in the bathroom (in the shower to 7l/min.; in the washbasin to 5l/min.) by up to 50%, with 100% comfort for the guests. This is how a business hotel with 100 rooms saves on average per year: - 1,500 m3 litres of water - 56,000 kWh energy - 18t CO2 - approx. € 13,000 costs Ask our team for a free test kit GreenTech@rabmer.at. We offer you also free and non-binding advice on how to save water & energy in your hotel! Today on #ZeroEmissionsDay we want to make ourselves aware of how important our earth is! That's why we at MESSERSCHMITT Systems focus on sustainable action: From energy-saving concepts such as guest presence detection to short delivery routes thanks to production directly in Germany. 🌱 Many of our hotel partners are already successfully putting these green solutions into practice: For example, they regulate the energy consumption in the rooms depending on the presence of the guests or, like Kulturhof Stanggass, use our sustainable keycards made of FSC®-certified wood – and thus reduce their ecological footprint. And the next time you're on holiday in a hotel: Why not take the train there? We'll definitely plan to do so! 🚂😉 #messerschmittsystems #hospitality #hoteltech #sustainabletravel #sustainability #zeday
