🌍 Celebrating World Food Day: Water, Food, and Sustainability 🚰💧 🌍 Today is World Food Day, and the theme for this year is "Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind." 🚰💧 Water is an indispensable resource for our planet, covering the majority of Earth's surface and making up over 50% of our bodies. It's vital not only for our survival but also for the production of the food we consume. Recently, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations reminded us that what we eat and how that food is produced all have a significant impact on water resources. This is a sobering fact, as it highlights the critical relationship between water and food. It's clear that we must not only think about saving water at a personal level but also strive to change our habits on a broader scale. In the pursuit of conserving water, innovative solutions can be game-changers. Take, for example, our groundbreaking innovation, the "ekPehel Bio Spittoon." This ingenious system automatically disinfects and decolonizes water used for cleaning spit, making it reusable for flushing. It's a remarkable example of how we can save substantial amounts of water and reduce our water footprint. We have the technology, the knowledge, and the passion to make a difference. On this World Food Day, let's pledge to be more focused and precise about water conservation, making conscious choices that support a sustainable future. Together, we can create a world where no one is left behind, and where water and food go hand in hand towards a brighter and more sustainable future. Join us in the journey to make every drop count! 💙🌎 #worldfoodday #waterislife #innovativesolutions #waterconservation #ekpehel #innovationforsustainability

🌍 Happy World Food Day! 🌾🍲 Today, as we celebrate World Food Day under the theme "Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind," let's delve into the profound connection between water and our sustenance. Water, constituting nearly 70% of the world's fresh supply, is the heartbeat of agriculture. Yet, a staggering one-third of the food we produce globally ends up lost or wasted. The water footprint behind this waste is colossal, emphasizing the urgent need for more sustainable practices. Consider this: over 2 billion people reside in regions grappling with high water stress. This World Food Day encourages us to reflect on our impact. Small changes in our daily lives, such as reducing meat consumption or minimizing food waste, can collectively contribute to conserving water resources. In the face of global water scarcity, adopting innovative technologies like precision agriculture and smart irrigation becomes crucial. These advancements not only enhance water efficiency but also pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient food future. Remember, every choice we make ripples through the interconnected web of water and food. Let's appreciate the significance of this relationship and work collaboratively towards a world where no one is left behind. 🌱💧 #WorldFoodDay #WaterIsLife #SustainableFoodSystems #ZeroHunger

"Waste Less Food!" Doesn't quite work as well as you'd expect despite it being a common dinner table statement. Yet it seems many organizations and brands take the same general approach. So, what does work? Specificity. It's simpler for people to action and serves as a better starting points for richer behavioral interventions when you understand what it is you want people to do. To get a better sense of some new ways to approach sustainability changes from wasting less food to taking public transit, check out our joint report with Futerra and WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Instead of simply encouraging your consumers to waste less food, consider the wide-ranging set of actions one might take to achieve that end result: ✅ Making meal plans ✅ Buying smaller portions ✅ Lowering the fridge temperature ✅ Freezing leftovers Focusing on the outcome can make it difficult to know where to start or lead to generic interventions with no specific call-to-action.
