Latest News | Googlebot Crawl Rate Tool is Now Gone The Google Search Console has removed the crawl rate setting tool, as previously announced in November, and was deprecated on January 8, 2024. This tool allowed users to communicate with Google to crawl their sites less frequently. Google deemed the tool obsolete due to improvements in its crawling logic and other available tools for publishers. Despite its removal, Google assured that it will maintain a minimum crawling speed comparable to the old limits. This change aims to honor past settings for low Search interest, preventing unnecessary bandwidth usage. Gary Illyes from Google explained that the crawl rate limiter tool had a slow effect and was rarely used, often set to the minimum speed. If users encounter crawling issues, Google advises referring to its help document and using the report form. This change emphasizes the importance of monitoring how it impacts crawl rates for site owners who have been using the crawl rate tool. Stay proactive and navigate these changes! After years of downplaying the importance of links in the Google algorithm, Gary Illyes from the Google Search team confirmed this at PubCon. He stated that links are not a top 3 ranking signal and haven’t been for some time. Moreover, Illyes even added that "it’s absolutely possible to rank without links." Say Goodbye to How-to Rich Results on Google's SERP! Google have announced that they have completely removed the How-To Rich Results. The schema for it can still be used but there will be no benefit in the search results from using it. The main reason given for removing this feature, was a part of their mission to simplify the search engine results pages for users. Google's Updates are ever changing and often unexpected, so trust us to stay ahead of the curve, and give Digital NRG a follow for future updates!

Search intent describes the literal intent of a user when they entered their search query into Google. Are they looking to shop, answer a question, get directions, or something else? Figure out what they want, optimize for it, rank, repeat.
