Last month, Operation Smile in Madagascar hosted their inaugural #nursing training program from June 2 to 4 in Antananarivo. The program aimed to empower CRNAs, pre/post nurses, and OR nurses from four local hospital partners with the skills to deliver high-quality care during surgical programs. This initiative also prepared them to become future trainers in cleft-competency, fostering sustainability and local #healthcareleadership. Throughout the program, participants received mentoring and hands-on practice, emphasizing on-site training for practical skills application. The training featured focus groups and discussions on preparing future volunteers and #health workers for surgical programs, covering Operation Smile medical global standards and the Situation Background Assessment Recommendation framework. Additionally, CRNAs received specialized training on the WATO X-35 local anesthesia machine to enhance their anesthesia administration proficiency. Several key trainers who attended our SSA Nursing Conference in Addis Ababa earlier this year played a crucial role in shaping the program and preparing #nurses as future educators. We extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated participants, staff, and trainers whose collective efforts made this nursing program a success. This initiative marks a significant milestone in our mission to strengthen #healthcare capacity and improve surgical outcomes for individuals with cleft conditions. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our patients and their communities, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.

Why is woundcare such an important issue for Nurses? According to Crystal Oldman in a PPP interview, "Woundcare is a field in which all nurses must have knowledge, especially district nurses, where it is a major part of their role in serving the community." On the 19th October in London Public Policy Projects will be a hosting a major event in Woundcare strategy and policy delivery. This in-person conference will provide an invaluable opportunity for delegates and key players in woundcare to engage in a dynamic dialogue on how we can go further for wound healing, and improve outcomes, costs and population health through delivering better wound care. So why should they attend the PPP Woundcare conference? "This conference is a great opportunity for nurses, who have huge roles in our communities, to listen, engage and ask questions. I would love for them to come to the conference to really challenge their thinking on woundcare." “… #Missedcare rates are an #indicator of #healthcare #quality. Missed nursing care can reduce patient #safety and lead to adverse events. Moral sensitivity enables #nurses to interpret and respond to clients' needs according to #ethical principles. Despite the importance of moral sensitivity and its role in the quality of care, the relationship between nurses' moral sensitivity and missed nursing care has not been extensively studied. This raises the question of whether there is an association between nurses' moral sensitivity and missed care.

Step back & reflect on the value of a Time Out! #NationalTimeOutDay
Take time to empower improvement. National Time Out Day (June 12) is critically important for OR nurses for a few key reasons: 1️⃣ Prevents Surgical Errors: The "Time Out" is a standardized safety protocol where the entire surgical team pauses before the procedure to verify crucial information. 2️⃣ Empowers Nurses to Speak Up: The Time Out protocol creates a space where any team member, including nurses, can voice concerns if something seems amiss. 3️⃣ Strengthens Team Communication: A successful Time Out requires clear communication from all team members – surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists. 4️⃣ Raises Awareness of Patient Safety: National Time Out Day can motivate nurses and other healthcare professionals to stay vigilant and prioritize safety measures. Get AORN's surgical checklist, The Joint Commission’s Universal Protocol, and so many resources, as well as a poster and a cake topper: https://lnkd.in/gM3CHFgU. Special thanks to Ansell, proud sponsor of AORN's National Time Out Day. Special thanks to Joint Commission for the amazing partnership. #ORNurse #Nursing #Nurses #NurseLife #Nurse #Perioperative
