This week is National Reconciliation Week ✨ It brings into focus the importance of strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-First Nations Australians. This National Reconciliation Week, Open Minds is incredibly proud to launch our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which will lay the foundations for tangible and meaningful change within our organisation. We are excited to grow together as we continue on our reconciliation journey and increase awareness of First Nations cultures, histories, knowledge and leadership. #OpenMinds #NRW2024 #NowMoreThanEver #ReflectRAP

At Prelude Australia, we are united in our commitment to National Reconciliation Week. This year, we focus on three key areas: Education, Reflection, and Participation. 📚 Education: Providing our staff with valuable resources, including recommended books and films, to deepen their understanding of First Nations peoples’ stories and cultures. 🧠 Reflection: We encourage our team to reflect on the presence of racism and inequality in their daily lives and to consider actionable steps they can take to combat these issues. 🤝 Participation: We are excited to participate in local events such as RAPS in the Region and the Reconciliation Ball. These events offer an opportunity to connect, learn, and support the cause of reconciliation. Our values guide our actions: #Respect: We are committed to growing our understanding of First Nations peoples' stories. #Collaboration: We strive to partner with our community and amplify the voices of First Nations peoples. #CreatingOpportunities: We actively seek ways to support understanding and reconciliation in everyday situations. #NowMoreThanEver, the work towards reconciliation and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must continue. #NRW2024

This week is #ReconciliationWeek. Running from the 27th of May until the 3rd of June, we are encouraged to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and prompted to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year’s theme is #NowMoreThanEver; a reminder that the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will – and must – continue. “Now more than ever, we need to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation. We know that the 6.2 million Australians who voted YES are committed to better outcomes for First Nations people, and are with us. Reconciliation supporters must stand up to defend and uphold the rights of First Nations peoples. To call out racism wherever we encounter it, and to actively reinforce the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across this continent.” – Reconciliation Australia To learn more about Reconciliation Week, and to get involved, visit:https://lnkd.in/gBBMBuUi

As National Reconciliation Week concludes, we reflect on the theme ‘Now More Than Ever’. Now, more than ever, we need to progress treaty making, truth-telling, and understanding. All of us need to work together and to eradicate racism. We need connection, respect and action. And we need change. At MacKillop, we encourage carers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait children to transition to be supported by Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, so the children in their care can benefit from their deep connections and cultural knowledge. We’re committed to enhancing our own knowledge, and we continue to learn, remain curious, and maintain our ongoing focus on culturally-safe care. This National Reconciliation Week, what did you learn or commit to?

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2024 is ‘Now More Than Ever’. The theme reminds all Australians that the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will – and must – continue. The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue. There have been many moments in Australia’s reconciliation journey that make us want to turn away. But when things are divisive, the worst thing we can do is disengage or disconnect. Now more than ever, we need to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation. We know that the 6.2 million Australians who voted YES are committed to better outcomes for First Nations people, and are with us. Reconciliation supporters must stand up to defend and uphold the rights of First Nations peoples. To call out racism wherever we encounter it, and to actively reinforce the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across this continent. Now more than ever, the work continues. In treaty making, in truth-telling, in understanding our history, in education, and in tackling racism. We need connection. We need respect. We need action. And we need change. Now more than ever, we need reconciliation.#NRW2024
