SAB 121 was issued by the SEC in April 2022. It put capital requirement handcuffs on financial institutions, deterring their involvement in digital assets on behalf of customers. 2+ years later we see this nullified by the House and last week the Senate. What's the big deal? We see bipartisanship in this vote - overall support for digital assets in DC appears to be changing. 11 democrats including Majority Leader Chuck Schumer were in on this vote. With the President threatening to veto this vote, it puts huge pressure on his administration to support his side. The Digital Chamber & Cody Carbone are in DC daily to influence and educate those (whipping votes) against #digitalassets. Thanks for fighting the good fight! With #SAB121 gone, we will no longer need to goss up the balance sheet for assets and liabilities. Unreasonable capital requirements will cease to exist. And with that, we can be optimistic to see the continuation of digital assets mainstream adoption. #crypto #regulations

There is a lot going around about a TikTok ban. I think before anyone jumps on the bandwagon, you should read this bill. As I read it, the Secretary of Commerce or the President can dismantle any "communication" company they feel is a national security risk or "interfered" in a national election. Hypothetically, Joe Biden opens his own social media platform, Q. After he's reelected, he decides that every other social media platform, from Facebook to LinkedIn to Pinterest "interfered" in the election. Because all of them have foreign investors, he can claim foreign interference. In the years it takes for the courts to sort it out, Q becomes the only social media platform in the United States. We are now a totalitarian state with only state sanctioned media. 100% hypothetical and I can't think of any candidate for president who would even consider such acts, but... as I read this bill, it's entirely possible.

Hunter Biden defies USA Congress. I understand the Congress is the only body holding the power to enact laws, impeach a President, and conduct investigations independently. Therefore, on what basis can any USA citizen defy Congress? Could someone explain this, please?

When Rep. McHenry became Speaker pro tem pursuant to a rule that created a secret list in the event of a vacancy, it was presumably to ensure continuity of government. McHenry is claiming he has no real power other than to run a new Speaker election, an assertion that may be a convenient tactic for putting pressure on his GOP colleagues to get their act together. Yet the rule that put him in the Speaker's role was clearly not intended to render the House ungovernable. It's increasingly possible that McHenry could be in his present predicament for some time, in which case he may want to adopt a more muscular view of his temporary powers, especially with budget, Ukraine & Israel funding looming. Or at least test & see what at least 218 of his colleagues may agree the contours of his temporary powers are in order to keep the country running. And that will likely require some Democratic buy-in, which isn't out of the cards if the powers McHenry exercises are limited to "must-do" legislation. https://lnkd.in/ee9Hbiuy
