This is a really good example of misleading PR research. Cleaning brand Method claim that 26% of Brit's wash their hands once or less a day when at 3-4 day festivals. A great headline, but it's clearly false. It's based on a sample of 1,500 adults of which it's highly unlikely that as many as a quarter of the population have been to a 3-4 day festival (certainly in the last year). So the 26% figure is very obviously based on a much smaller subset of the total sample i.e. those who have attended a 3-4 day festival. Of course what would be a significantly lower figure wouldn't be of much interest to the many news outlets who have run the story. Another thing... I'd love to know how the question was asked. Was it only about washing hands with soap and water? Did it exclude hand gel? We'll never know because the data won't be published. This has delivered the desired coverage for Method, but a bit more interrogation of the press release and they might not have got any at all. How an 800-year-Old Abbey influenced a beer brand (Revealing the new Leffe Sonic Sound) If I ask you to think about: • The unmistakable Netflix “ta-dum” sound signalling the start of a movie, • The iconic “I’m loving it” jingle from Mc Donald’s, • The nostalgic chime of Microsoft Windows starting up. Each sound rings crystal clear in your mind right? ⤷ This is called Sonic Branding. Sonic branding gives brands a distinctive edge by connecting with consumers through sound. It dramatically boost brand attention. Take Netflix’s ‘ta-dum’ sound, for example—studies found that it boasts an impressive 81% brand recall.  Leffe the well-known Belgian beer brand just unveiled their first Sonic sound identity, mixing modern sound design with their 800-year Abbey heritage. Most beer brands stick to the same old generic ‘refreshment’ sounds and a mix of random music creating inconsistency. Therefore, the creative minds at Jones Knowles Ritchie, London Music, and MassiveMusic, saw this potential and seized it. They’ve crafted a unique sonic identity that not only stands out but also creates a richer, more immersive experience for the consumer. Last month when Coachella tickets went on sale and did not immediately sell out, it touched off a bit of soul searching. The two-weekend music festival had, bit by bit and then all at once, built its identity as the influencer event of the year. Those tickets did eventually sell, but there was still a lingering fear among the selfie set: if 150,000 people showed up in the California desert and their TikToks didn’t go viral, did Coachella really happen? It’s a pressing question for fashion and beauty brands, too. Coachella has played host to some of the industry’s most over-the-top marketing activations over the years, and turned niche labels into Instagram sensations. Countless brands release “festival edits,” with a mix of new items and Coachella-friendly selections from their inventory (this year, prairie dresses and jorts are proving popular, while more dressed up styles, such as sequined dresses, are on the way out, according to retail analytics firm Edited). Festival sponsors make over gas stations, build party houses from scratch and host elaborate, all-day events with their own slates of musical artists. The REVOLVE Festival, hosted by the influencer-friendly online apparel brand since 2015, is a veritable institution at this point; the brand’s sales now top $1 billion. The Cheapest and Most Effective Advertising Strategy Nowadays: I want to emphasize that this advertising method may not work for all companies, but it's particularly effective for those catering to the younger generation and able to present themselves in a fun way. As you might have guessed, the big player here is TikTok. The main point is that the younger generation expects to see default ads from businesses (by default, I mean a boring and 'serious' format of content). A good example is how Opera GX does it. They keep up with trends, making short, funny, and sometimes crazy content. It doesn't even seem like it's coming from a Big Tech Company, which is why it often goes viral, getting millions of views and making viewers stick around.
