Happy Juneteenth! On Juneteenth, we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and reflect on the ongoing struggle for freedom, justice, and equality. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, marks June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and the freedom of all enslaved people. This announcement came more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. As we observe Juneteenth, it is crucial to remember that until we are all free, no one is truly free. The pursuit of liberty and equality is a collective effort, and we must continue to stand together against all forms of oppression and discrimination. Today, let's celebrate progress, educate ourselves and others, and commit to a more inclusive and just society. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #EqualityForAll

National Freedom Day commemorates the emancipation from slavery. On this day in 1865, President Lincoln officially adopted the 13th Amendment, a pivotal moment that abolished slavery in the United States. This historic amendment underscores the principles of equality and freedom for all individuals, leaving an indelible mark on American history. It is essential to recognize the profound impact of this quest for freedom, justice, and equality not only in the United States but also on Canada. The Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses, played a crucial role in the escape of enslaved individuals to freedom, with some finding sanctuary in Canada. This shared history highlights the interconnected struggle for human rights and freedom on both sides of the border. In the spirit of our collective journey towards justice and equality, National Freedom Day serves as a poignant reminder. Let's celebrate the richness of diversity that defines each of us, fostering unity in our differences as we work together for a more promising and harmonious future.
