Carbon capture and storage is the future of energy.

I am pleased to share Galp's 3Q23 results: another strong quarter of robust operational momentum across all business units. Our continued focus on disciplined strategic execution and efficient capital allocation has been pivotal in achieving these results. A big thank you to our dedicated teams for their relentless efforts in making this achievement possible!   We finished the third quarter with an EBITDA of €1.057 billion and a net profit of €210 million. The strong generation of cash flow from operations, €716 million, allowed us to further reduce the Group's net debt (0.3 times EBITDA) and accelerate our decarbonisation path.   We have also taken final decisions to invest €650 million in two projects that will reposition Sines as a centre for green energy production and lay the foundations for a low-carbon economy in Portugal: an advanced biofuels unit and the 100MW green hydrogen electrolyser - one of the largest projects of its kind in the world. We continue to grow in renewables and have inaugurated a 150MW solar farm in Alcoutim, a €70 million investment that will produce the green electrons we need in Sines.   Looking ahead, we are reviewing our expectations for the full year and adjusting our outlook. We are revising up our guidance on the back of continued macro tailwinds and a better-than-expected operational performance, particularly in Upstream production and Industrial & Midstream contribution.   This quarter's performance is a testament to Galp's solid commitment to excellence and innovation. There’s a lot happening at bp 💚! And our net zero ambition progress report gives a neat insight on what we work on and where we’re going. - We’ve reduced our operational emissions by 41% compared to 2019. - We remain ahead of our 2025 target and continue to lay the groundwork for sustained decarbonization. - In 2023 our transition growth investment was $3.8 billion. This compares to $0.6 billion in 2019 and $4.9 billion in 2022. *Why was it slightly less this year? The difference from 2022 shows that we spent less on outside investments to grow our new areas of business. However, we spent more money from within our company to develop these areas in 2023. *Transition growth investment? This represents our investments into non oil gas business. So that includes (hydrogen, wind, E.V.-charging, bio-energy) How does my role fit into this? My colleagues and I handle policy development, assess existing legislation/regulation, and ensure alignment with current needs and best practices to mobilize bp’s business forward while communicating our overall global strategy.
