Projections suggest that by 2030, the energy transition will generate 14 million jobs in the energy supply industry and an additional 16 million positions in the clean energy sector encompassing efficiency, automotive, and construction. This surge equates to a substantial 30 million new job openings globally. Nevertheless, it is expected that the fossil fuel industry will experience a reduction of 5 million jobs by 2030. Despite this, the growth in new opportunities is expected to more than offset the job losses. The rise of innovative renewable energy technologies, energy storage solutions, and smart grid systems is fostering the emergence of various new job roles, as well as making leadership roles in the industry pivotal to its future success and sustainability. Currently the demand for the specialised skills and availability are rife, with highly regarded companies looking to recruit the very best talent. Companies are encountering difficulties in filling these crucial roles due to a scarcity of workers equipped with the necessary expertise, knowledge and experience. This skills gap stands as one of the primary hurdles that energy companies confront as they navigate their journey towards a net-zero future, but only if they do not know who to ask. That's where I come in. Knowing where to get the very best talent for our innovative and ever-changing industry is essential, and key to long-term success. The solar industry faces a shortage of skilled professionals that threatens to hamper ambitious growth plans despite significant global investments and ambitious renewable energy targets. It is estimated that 48% of solar and energy storage companies are falling short in their search for skilled employees. 📈 Hiring Pressure: Global solar growth aims for 1 million workers by 2030, doubling capacity to 320 GW by 2025 and 600 GW by 2030. The U.S. anticipates creating 1 million clean energy jobs annually, with only 3% of electricity from solar panels. 🔍 Challenges: Fierce competition, a small talent pool, lack of training and technical skills can hinder the hiring process. China's dominance in the space raises international competition, impacting local markets. 💰 Borrowing Struggles: Companies relying on financing to drive solar projects encounter a significant challenge in a high-interest economy. At times this compromises the financial viability of renewable initiatives. 🌐 Impact on Talent Acquisition: Financial uncertainties have a ripple effect on talent acquisition. Potential talent may focus on instability, overlooking potential. Shareholders might reconsider investments, diversifying into perceived low-risk industries for immediate returns. 🚧 Installation Talent: There is a shortage of skilled construction and installation workers, particularly those proficient in installing and maintaining solar panels. Adding to this complexity, the wind energy sector is competing for the same pool of skilled professionals. 💻 Technology: There is an increasing demand for skills in geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis. This extends to professionals for operations and maintenance (O&M) activities, with optimised O&M requiring a blend of data analysis and engineering expertise. 🛠️ Skills in Demand: Installation experts, digital solar proficiency, project managers, and regulatory professionals. Delaying the process in finding experienced people can lead to project delays, increased costs, and operational inefficiencies. 💡 Solutions: Standardised training, in-house learning, and partnerships with universities to foster a pipeline for future talent. Explore relevant transferable skills from other sectors. Collaborate with recruiters for an expanded search, improved onboarding and talent retention. It can also help to secure talent from competitors in a market notorious for its competitive edge, whilst alleviating stakeholder and shareholder anxieties. 🌐 Collaboration is Key: Governments, companies, and educational institutions must unite to facilitate worker mobility, standardized certifications, and funding for renewable energy recruitment. #SolarIndustry #RenewableEnergy #SkillsShortage #SolarJobs 🌱

🔎 The International Energy Agency (IEA) notes that employment in the clean energy industry now accounts for more than half of all jobs in the energy sector. | #KeepInTouch ▪ Energy employment has increased globally due to growing investment in clean technologies, with solar PV leading the way with 4 million jobs. As a result, employment in the energy sector reached 67 million in 2022, an increase of 3.5 million since the pandemic. 🔆 ▪ About two clean energy jobs would be created for every job lost in fossil fuels. ▪ Policymakers should focus on job training and skills development to ensure that energy transitions benefit as many people as possible. In addition, workers from outside the energy sector will be essential and, with some retraining, many workers today could be able to benefit from higher wages in the energy sector. ✔ In the updated 2050 net-zero emissions scenario, 30 million new clean energy jobs are created by 2030, while about 13 million jobs in fossil fuel-related industries are at risk. 📊 #VectorRenewable #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #NetZero
