Interesting to see that Apple Intelligence may not be released in the EU due to the EU DMA Act. This is definitely the backlash from recent EU regulatory decisions and I guess, not really a surprise. What happens next? Will consumers ask the EU to rethink the strategy? I don't know the answer here, but it's an area to watch. There's a fine line between no regulation, strong regulation and balanced regulation that still needs to be worked out (or maybe the EU is right and Apple should accept their fate). What do you think? https://lnkd.in/eu5nSA7D

On Monday, 18 March 2024, Apple Inc. (AAPL) stated that it meets the competitor accessibility requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This European Union (EU) legislation is a move by the bloc to regulate the digital economy. https://lnkd.in/edMg46nt #apple #digitalmarketsact #europeanunion #eulaw #stockmarketnews

I'm not an Apple person, but was truly amazed by what they announced about their Apple Intelligence (integration with ChatGPT): * Siri integration between apps (like what Rabbit is trying with a separate device) * Siri now also available by typing (no longer necessary to talk when you don't want to) * Full personal privacy: everything done without sharing any of your personal info with anything or anybody. It all sounds almost too good to be true, I can't wait to read the first reviews once it's live 😀 Watch the whole WWDC 2024 here (video jumps straight to the AI part) https://lnkd.in/eC6WMZ83

"A great challenge of life: Knowing enough to think you're doing it right, but not enough to know you're doing it wrong."
It had a run for 18 years almost. And now the Apple App Store is facing anti-competition charges. Again. "The US lawsuit alleges that Apple has used its power over app distribution on the iPhone to thwart innovations that would have made it easier for consumers to switch phones. The company has refused to support cross-platform messaging apps, limited third-party digital wallets and non-Apple smartwatches, and blocked mobile cloud streaming services, according to the DOJ." Apple denies this. But come on, it is easy to port your WhatsApp info and conversations from Android to iOS; but almost hairtearingly frustrating the other way around. Apple does not make iMessage work on Android. To claim that they can't do it then because of technology, and they can do it now is just rich. Anyway, there are 2 monopolies that is holding Western tech back, Google Search and Apple App Store. (Copilot? In 2022, there were 99,000 searches per second on Google Search; or 3.5b a day. ChatGPT did 1.5m a day in 2023. Let's just put ChatGPT/Copilot as a maybe disruptor to Google Search. Reddit and TikTok are the next competitors to maybe disrupt Google Search.)

Apple Intelligence, Even though these presentations are almost dystopian in their clean “bright-light-toothpaste-white” vision of the future, this company does so many things right it’s tough not be enthusiastic. Here’s my highlights: - They are leading with on-device Generative AI 🤖 - Before talking up any of the big features they gave an in depth explanation about Privacy and Security! 🙌 - Apple understands that automation is where it’s at. AI functions that actually help you navigate the OS and the thousands of sub functions available on a smart phone. 💪 Great stuff 😀 https://lnkd.in/egA3xfKc
