The recent #TEA Forum24 underscored a pivotal message: partnerships are the backbone of scaling clean energy solutions. Collaboration across sectors is essential to drive innovative financing structures and gender-intentional approaches that empower women and drive the clean #EnergyTransition. This time last month, Shell Foundation 's team attended the Transforming Energy Access (TEA) Forum in Kigali, #Rwanda. The Forum, hosted by UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and The The Carbon Trust, brought together like-minded individuals, strategic partners, and businesses in the clean energy transition sector. Thisant milestone as the first in-person TEA meeting since 2019. Our collaboration with the FCDO and the Carbon Trust through the TEA Platform has been driving progress. The Transforming Inclusive Energy Markets (TIME) initiative, co-funded by Shell Foundation and FCDO, has highlighted the power of the strategic partnership by: ✅️ Providing 22.6 million individuals with improved clean energy access. Making 116 funding interventions to support scalable energy solutions. ✅️ Leveraging £896 million in additional capital from both private and public sectors. ✅️ Producing 78 comprehensive research products, enriching the sector with valuable data. These results illustrate the benefits of strategic partnerships and innovative financing in scaling clean energy solutions. The TEA Forum also reinforced the need to make the clean energy transition work for everyone through inclusive #EnergyAccess. We are thrilled to announce that a week ago Khantša Energy has been selected among the semi-finalists of the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP)-Lesotho ! This is a United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) led flagship initiative to advance cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship for climate action in Lesotho. The primary aim of this project is to enhance the readiness of Lesotho’s private sector to develop, commercialize, and invest in climate and clean energy (cleantech) solutions, as well as to maximize the economic growth opportunities embedded therein, while supporting Lesotho in reaching its #NDCtargets. We are thrilled at the prospect of jointly confronting the challenges that Lesotho’s private sector faces such as the limited capacity to innovate, develop and deploy home-grown technology and business solutions to address climate and energy challenges. While there may be technology innovations and business ideas stemming from universities, research labs, and SMEs, there is no system or culture of support at the national level to nurture a pool of cleantech solutions into profitable business models, which can provide competitive alternatives to carbon-intensive options in the market. Adding to the challenge is the current policy and legal framework, which does not adequately incentivize private sector investments in the cleantech sector. In addition, the market conditions are not favorable for investments into cleantech solutions. We would like to take this moment to acknowledge the efforts and support of UNIDO, Government of Lesotho, GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme. Lastly, we would like to congratulate our fellow Lesotho semi-finalists by echoing Henry Ford's philosophy, "'If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself." #GCIPLesotho #cleantech #innovation #sustainability #greenenergy #entrepreneurship #innovation #sustainabledevelopment #cleanenergy
