Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of speaking at YOXO Festival 2024, Yokohama's innovation festival (Yokohama City Economic Affairs Bureau seminar), along with Mr. Hiroki Matsuo, Secretary General for Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, Cabinet. In 2019, Yokohama declared "Innovation City Yokohama." In 2020, Yokohama, as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Consortium, was selected as one of four "Global Startup Cities" by the Japanese Government. In my speech, "Potential of Yokohama's Startup Ecosystem: From a Perspective of a Singaporean Startup," I shared four key features of Singapore's startup ecosystem based on my experience as a startup founder. I also discussed the potential of Yokohama's startup ecosystem, the city I grew up in. I hope the startup ecosystem will continue to thrive in Yokohama. His speech covered Japan's government-led strategies, including Strategies for the Creation of Startup Ecosystem to Compete with the World's Top Ecosystems.
