'Tis the season for AGMs and a point in the year to reflect and look ahead. For EuropaBio - the European Association for Bioindustries, the past year has seen a welcome amplification of biotechnology within policy makers' priorities and its recognition within legislation. A critical economic technology, NZIA, STEP, plus the arrival of a detailed Initiative 'Boosting biotech & biomanufacturing in the EU' which will shape the Commission to come. It's significance has also been recognised within legislative proposals, such as the #GPL, where the importance of incentivising and protecting biotech innovation improved a first draft from levels that would have driven innovation from the EU. The #NGT legislation also holds the promise of an empowered EU but with both files, there's a long way to go to ensure that Europe achieves its ambitions. EuropaBio achieves this with its Members, and we were delighted to welcome new faces to the Board, plus new company and association Members from across countries and sectors, reflecting the diversity and depth of biotechnology across sectors. We look ahead to a big year for biotech and thank all the people who help create the pathway with us.

There are just 4 weeks left until one of Europe’s Protein Antibody Engineering Summit, and there are numerous reasons to come by our booth and have a chat with Stephan, Brian and Hasse, so let us list a few of them over the next few weeks. First, #efficiency! Taking detergent screening for membrane proteins as an example: ⏲ Fida 1 users can screen 12 detergents in 3 hours (in triplicates), using just 1,5 uL for the entire screen. To make it even more efficient our users can do it directly in #crude matrix – skipping the purification step 🚀 Beyond that, every single measurement provides 8 different parameters, such as #aggregation, stickiness or sample loss – which ensures that any issues are spotted and solved for as soon as possible.   Productive, isn’t it? One of the presentations you should not miss is Prof. Steffen Goletz’s  “IgG-VHH Fusions: Technology-Driven” talk on 🗓 Thursday at 🕒 14.45 in the Bispecifics track.
