Economic growth should be inclusive, with decent work for all, driving innovation and resilient infrastructure. Reduced inequalities within and among countries promote fairness. Sustainable cities and communities enhance urban living, prioritizing green spaces and safe, affordable housing. Responsible consumption and production reduce waste, conserving resources. Climate action addresses urgent environmental threats, while life below water and on land demands protection and restoration of ecosystems. Peace, justice, and strong institutions ensure societal stability. Partnerships for the goals unify global efforts, fostering collaboration for a sustainable future.

In anticipation of the 2024 ECOSOC High-level Segment on the theme of the general debate, “From the SDG Summit to the Summit of the Future," Phoenix Zones Initiative (in special consultative status with ECOSOC) submitted invited comments. Here's a sneak peek: "To effectively address global challenges, including growing inequalities and extreme poverty, international policies must prioritize those who are most vulnerable. Interventions that serve present and future generations require attention to social, economic, environmental, legal, and political determinants of health, including connections between the treatment of people, animals, and the planet. Phoenix Zones Initiative therefore recommends that the 2024 ECOSOC High-level Segment set the stage for a future that optimizes the inseparable health and wellbeing of humans, animals, and the environment by explicitly acknowledging these relationships across multiple pillars of sustainability.
