So very few leaders in Catholic education can really truly articulate the full extent of what ought to be a mind blowing definition of Catholic education. It's not their fault, they simply don't know what they don't know. All schools aim to engender "love, service, excellence and unity" so what's different about the Catholic approach to education https://lnkd.in/gMHwsYeA
As we look back at a joyful Easter period, and forward to the summer term, we have been thinking about our Trust vision, and what it means to be a collegiate group of schools working to strengthen Catholic education locally. ✝️ At PFCMAT, we are first and foremost a Catholic Multi Academy Trust, which means delivering on Gospel values by providing for each individual pupil through the curriculum and broad extra curricular experiences. 🌟Watch our video to learn more about our four Trust values and how we deliver on our promise to local families. #CommunityofSchools #CatholicEducation #PFCMATValues

If we weren`t being purchased by Special Education,it wouldn`t happen. What`s been great is I encourage them to start special ed earlier. We can`t wait till grade 3-4 to intervene, we have to do it intensely in grade 2-3. York Catholic DSB is intervening all the way to grade 8. Why not high school? Who would be doing that teaching? To date,we haven`t been able to convince anyone to do #readingintervention in grade 1. #Remediationplus Large school boards involved and standardizations,or roll outs. On the fence? Pilot in a minimum of 5 schools.

Have you seen the latest inquiry from the Commission for Children and Young People Victoria into the educational experiences of children and young people in out-of-home-care? 47 recommendations on how we can improve things formed from consultations with 101 children and young people, surveys with a further 88 and consultations with over 350 other stakeholders. These recommendations will improve the educational outcomes for our precious young people. While there are improvements that can be made, I am proud that I am part of an organisation working to improve systems - we even get a mention. Have a read below. #childrenareourfuture #youthvoice #educationsuccess #educationmatters
‘Let us learn: Systemic inquiry into the educational experiences of children and young people in out-of-home care’, examined the educational experiences of children and young people in out-of-home care, including the factors that affect their educational outcomes and ability to stay engaged in education. Here at The MacKillop Institute, we’re proud of our contributions to this important inquiry led by the Commission for Children and Young People Victoria. The report makes 47 recommendations to the Victorian Government to reform these systems to improve educational outcomes. Recommendation #13 advocates for trauma-informed teaching practices to be incorporated into teacher training. Read the full report here https://zurl.co/b1Kb

The evidence session in Parliament I watched yesterday was brilliant (you can just about spot me in the left corner). Very informative and is a testament to the progress we hope to make to protect care-experienced people’s rights ❤️🏴. The session provided me with plenty of opportunities to reflect on my work with care-experienced young people and further evidence my choices of priorities (education, employment & health and wellbeing) should I be elected as MSYP for Who Cares? Scotland, with a holistic approach required by The Scottish Government to ensure real progress is made to help care-experienced people have the same rights and opportunities as their peers. One particular moment stood out to me was the figure of 10% rise in homelessness in care-experienced people across Scotland in the last year. In that moment, I remember thinking ‘you were almost one of those 10%’ and that’s where it all started. To think that is how I started working with Unite Foundation and looking into Who Cares? Scotland because I couldn’t find a community that understood what I was going through, shocked me because the stigma I faced was mainly down to a lack of understanding from the people who were supposed to support me. Finding a rental guarantor was impossible for me and I thought I was alone until I found out from these groups that it is not uncommon. I had the proof of income from my job and student finance to cover more than the years rent. Yet because of my lack of guarantor I was made to find over £4500 out of essentially thin air. It has to change, it affected my studies, work and was detrimental to my mental health. So, those among you that probably think I work too hard. Well, I’m still trying to make myself financially secure so I don’t have to worry about becoming homeless because unlike many of my peers, this fear is a constant thought in care-experienced people’s minds. We can make the change by advocating for and protecting care-experienced people’s rights and learning from our experiences to support us. You can help to make a massive difference to our quality of life. Although, I couldn’t be there today to watch, my sentiments are the same that we have a lot of progress to make to end the stigma and challenges facing care-experienced people. It starts with the recognition of the life long impact it leaves on us. #lifelongrights #endthecarecliff #msypelections #AllofUsCommunity #endthestigma

Education in America is going to look very different 10 years from now. Today your neighborhood school is the de facto custodian of your child for 8hrs/day. In the future, just like in all aspects of free citizens, your child's education will largely be driven by family observation, review & thoughtful unrestricted selection.
