Leading a school is a privilege and honor. It's an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students, families, and educators I served. I want to thank Partners in School Innovation (PSI) for walking side by side with me in the transformation process. We often talk about the transformation of schools with limited discussion about the changes in the leader tasked with improving outcomes.
Although I am a changemaker in the book, focused on the real work of systems change, I could easily talk about my personal journey and changes as an educational leader. Any person tasked with leading a school can share their internal battle to move from THEORY to ACTION. Leaders know that a theory means absolutely nothing if it cannot be applied in the real-world.
As an educational leader, I was able to change how I think and act to achieve equitable outcomes. My change occurred through a strong relationship with PSI, focused on my personal growth as an educational leader. I do not like to speak for other people, but I will make an exception this time. On behalf of the MLK Community (students, parents, educators), I would like to say, THANK YOU to PSI (Hansa, Jessica, Emily, Tim, Amanda, and John). Your partnership helped me transform TEACHING and LEARNING. Our relationship took me on a journey and brought joyful learning into a building located in the Southeast section of the City of San Francisco.
