Introducing the new 📚 RD Dictionary Series, where we highlight key rapid delivery terms, is here! Today, it’s our bread and butter – Rapid Delivery. Rapid delivery apps provide immediate (up to 3 hours) delivery following the placement of an order. They can be split into Aggregators/Intermediates (food tech-first companies like Uber Eats) and Quick Commerce Apps (pure players, with 1-party stores). Rapid delivery is mobile-centric, most of the orders are made through applications. #rapiddelivery #logistics #qcommerce

The service delivered by DoorDash still depends on their drivers' performance, and they can decide on which bookings to take, which is why the #company advised tipping upon ordering for more chances of getting accommodated. It is widely known that tipping is required here in the country, but DoorDash said that adding tips beforehand could motivate the driver to take your order instead of others. The Verge reported that DoorDash is now encouraging users to tip when booking their order via the #app, and this is because they want the drivers to be motivated whenever taking a job or accepting it via the app. When using the app and putting $0 on the tip #feature, DoorDash would show a prompt that says "Orders with no tip might take longer to get delivered - are you sure you want to continue?". According to Brian Krassenstein, there are #different arguments for this, #first, DoorDash may encourage users to do so, but they may also hide the tip amount until it is completed

💥 The Competition Among Delivery Apps: A Battle for a Place on Your Mobile Phone Recently, Getir announced a strategic partnership with Uber Eats to boost its sales. This collaboration followed Getir's initiatives, such as distributing coupons and merchandise, to drive sales growth. This development raises a pertinent question about the Unique Selling Point (USP) of quick commerce (q-commerce) companies. In a landscape where apps like Uber Eats and Bolt provide not only food delivery but also grocery delivery services, one might wonder: Why would consumers opt to download yet another delivery app solely dedicated to groceries when platforms like Uber Eats and Bolt offer a comprehensive range of both food and grocery delivery services ❓ What are your thoughts on this question? Please feel free to share your insights in the comments below! 💬 #fooddelivery #grocerydelivery #foodtech

DoorDash is introducing a significant change to how couriers are paid by offering them the option to earn hourly rates on top of tips. Couriers can now choose to "earn by time," which guarantees an hourly minimum rate for the duration of their deliveries. This is a departure from the current system, where couriers receive base pay based on factors like time, distance, and desirability. DoorDash is also introducing a location-sharing feature for couriers to enhance safety and a "Dash Along the Way" option for picking up orders en route to a specific destination. On the user side, the DoorDash app receives updates such as a new search option, multiple carts for different products, and support for online SNAP/EBT payments. #DoorDash #App #Food #Delivery #Courier #EarnByTime #DashAlongTheWay #Tech #ITW Image: Alex Castro / The Verge

October Update: DoorDash is now the top rated Food/Grocery Delivery App (4.76/5) followed by Instacart (4.76) and JOKR (4.73) 👉 Though Getir dominated these ratings last year, they've slipped below to the 8th spot. 👉 JOKR took the top spot for app rating based Net Promoter Score (83.22/100) followed by Instacart (80.95) and Getir (79.52) 👉 Global Average App Rating: 4.68/5 | NPS: 75.1 --> Companies with scores below these will have to put a lot of effort to improve their ratings. I've been tracking similar data for micromobility and most below the average went out of business. 👉 Though talabat has improved their ratings in the last year, they are still at the bottom together with Zapp and Gorillas 👉 Getir is still the top rated in Germany (4.8 | 89) followed by Flink (4.6 | 75). 👉 Getir is also the top rated in France (4.9 | 91). In both France and Germany, Getir has absolute dominance, with others trailing far behind in NPS. 👉 Good to see Instacart changing their app policy and making their app available on all app stores, whereas they were available only on US appstore earlier. Should I add any companies to my watchlist? Drop a comment below. Note: - Data gathered from 150+ Apple and Google app stores across the globe - If you would like to purchase datasets of 17 Food Delivery companies and ~20k data points that I track, plz dm.
