Leadership does change things! Building the capacity of leaders across the system is needed! Principals leaders, teacher leaders, parent leaders, central leaders, Community leaders and student leaders- to develop an Ecosystem of literacy that leads to reading — leadership matters!
I leverage leadership and systems-thinking to ensure literacy is a civil right achievable for all students.
About one week ago Dr. Sabrina "Bri" Moore, EdD, MBA shared a bit of her story as a teacher, principal, and systems leader in Oakland. She speaks to the ✨ecosystem✨ that we must create to do this work well. This begins with building the capacity of leaders because “we believe leadership changes things.” When principals understand structured literacy and strong instruction, they can make strategic decisions around aligned curriculum and resource allocation in order to build the knowledge and capacity of teachers through PD, collaborative planning, and consistent feedback. Thank you again to Center for the Collaborative Classroom , Families in Action for Quality Education, Kenneth Rainin Foundation, and FULCRUM for hosting this powerful event!

To all of my colleagues and friends: Does your organization have a project in need of some help from your fellow community? Please consider submitting a project proposal to Leadership Lackawanna. Our Core class members will have the opportunity to help your organization with your service project need, develop leadership skills, build relationships, and more. Submit your letter of intent today at leadershiplackawanna.com. For nonprofit organizations and community groups, this invitation to submit an RFP presents an opportunity to use the services of a talented team of professionals. The group can help you with a project you have had in mind but lacked the human resources to accomplish. At the same time, you can expose a group of established and emerging leaders to your organization's mission and goals. This is a mutually beneficial experience for your agency and these emerging professionals. Projects must have a reasonable scope and budget and cannot include capital campaigns, rebranding/branding/marketing campaigns, or raising large sums of money.
LL needs community service projects! Apply today! A key aspect of each Leadership Lackawanna Core Program Class is the opportunity for participants to expand their knowledge of local organizations and hone leadership skills through participation in a small group project. If you are connected to an organization that could use the dedication of a small group of volunteers, consider submitting a project proposal for consideration.

This week our Programs team is facilitating Session I of our Youth Leaders program for high school students. The program is a modified version of our Leadership Winter Park curriculum and helps develop the talents, strengths, leadership and community engagement of these future leaders. The students participate in everything from team-building project challenges to resume and LinkedIn writing, to a StrengthsFinder assessment, to public speaking to community service projects at area nonprofits to site visits to our arts and cultural institutions, local government entities and many others. It's an immersive and transformative experience that helps prepare these students for success in their future studies and careers. #leadership #careerdevelopment #leadershipdevelopment
