#hydrogenPORT Another milestone achieved: HHLA Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG today opened the first test field for #hydrogenpowered port logistics and the corresponding hydrogen filling station in the Port of Hamburg!
🌱 The test site at the HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (#CTT) is another milestone in the decarbonisation of logistics. Together with its partner companies in the Clean Port & Logistics Cluster (#CPL) HHLA is now testing how hydrogen can be used to reliably supply heavy goods vehicles.
Angela Titzrath, Chairwoman of HHLA's Executive Board, opened the test field today together with Dr Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economics and Innovation of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Christian Maaß, Head of Heat, Hydrogen & Efficiency at the Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Protection, Antje R., Manager Port Networks and Applications, NOW GmbH and Dr Lucien Robroek, President Technology Solutions Division of Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, with a successful refuelling of a hydrogen-powered tractor unit.
Dr Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economic and Innovation states: "The opening is an important step for the Port of Hamburg. It will enable the use of hydrogen-powered trucks at the terminals and beyond. The potential for the port of Hamburg and the logistics sector is considerable - for example, trucks that regularly use the port of Hamburg can also benefit from such an infrastructure in the future. The test centre will help us gain important experience in this field. In this way, HHLA and its partners are driving forward the transformation and decarbonisation of handling and transport processes."
