Update from Llais on the EMRTS Review Final Report: We know how much the changes to the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) mean to many of you, especially those in rural areas of Wales. We have heard how deeply people care about the emergency services they and their loved ones can get when they need it and that for a lot of people making sure that any changes to EMRTS does not mess with the quality or speed of help in their area is important to them. That's why we've been meeting with the EMRTS Review team, sharing your feedback and encouraging them to not only engage with you but to listen too. Whenever we've seen room for improvement, we've spoken up, pushing for changes to be made. We are working through the EMRTS Review Final Report published yesterday. We got the details at the same time everyone else did, so like you we are still getting our heads around it. We understand the deep concerns and strong feelings many of you have expressed about these proposed changes. We're paying attention. Our next steps are to talk to the health boards, and EMRTs review team, to understand how your feedback has informed and shaped the final recommendations, if at all, and we will speak up and represent your voices. Communication is key in healthcare. However, this imperative is often lost with patient continuity. I readily utilize the below acronym in my daily paramedic practice. Writing out the information on the back of patient transfer packets and verbally reciting it.

How was your Home Health VBP performance in 2023? Needing improvement? Not meeting your expectations? If so, you need to start making changes now because payment adjustments are not that far away. Do you know that poor documentation by clinicians is the number 1 contributing factor to low scores? Does your agency need assistance with training and educating your clinicians on documentation guidelines and expected standards? Not only does this create great scores but it creates better patient care, and that's a win for everyone! Does your current QA company? Provide education on OASIS and documentation on clinical notes including therapy. Provide the rationale for OASIS changes to encourage clinicians to choose correct answers on subsequent OASIS. Provide your clinicians a direct line to the QA RN who reviewed their OASIS so they can ask questions and start the dialogue on interpreting the OASIS questions. If you answered "No" to any of these questions, call Trilogy Quality Assurance to provide your agency with a new level of training and education that will lead to a great performance in 2024.

Experienced Healthcare Manager driven to excellence in transitions of care for the wellbeing of patients. Care Manager; Pastoral Care and Teaching
I am deeply concerned about the quality of healthcare in various sectors, including Primary care, urgent care, emergency care acute care, and mental The lack of empathy and compassion exhibited by some healthcare professionals is disheartening. Recently, I witnessed firsthand the negative impact of poor bedside manner from a doctor on a loved one. It is essential for those in the healthcare field to remember that the active word in healthcare is "care." We must reassess the level of care we are providing to those in need. Remember, people value the care you show more than your knowledge. If you feel disconnected from the compassionate aspect of healthcare, it may be time to explore a different path. Stay humble, prioritize empathy, and remember that our fundamental duty as humans is to care for one another. It's crucial to reflect on your motivations for being in the medical field. If prestige, money, or power are your driving factors, consider if this aligns with the true calling of healthcare. Let's strive to embody humility, compassion, and genuine care in all aspects of our work.
