🤖 RIL Drop-Point N3 Prototype
📍 GreyOrange / Sistemo
Intralogistics bots, representing the future of warehouse automation, have become increasingly popular. However, all automation processes require peripheral hardware to function properly. An essential component for the effective operation of these bots is the pallet drop-point, a small station designed for pallet picking and placing by the RIL bots.
In this post, I share my design proposal aimed at replacing the current drop-point model with a safer, easier-to-install, and more appealing design.
Keypoints:
1. Simplified manufacturing: Utilizing a jigsaw design with laser-cut parts streamlines the manufacturing process.
2. Enhanced safety: The solid design features a central opening that allows operators to access emergency buttons on all sides easily ensuring safety during operation.
3. Improved installation: With fewer parts and a modular approach, installation processes become faster, leading to significant reductions in installation times.
To guarantee structural integrity, I conducted extensive non-linear finite element analysis (FEA) simulations, resulting in an overall safety factor (FS) of 15 throughout the complete structure and a minimal displacement of 0.6 mm when supporting a load of 1 ton (1000 kg).
