This is the reality of many children who leave their homes in rural areas in search of work in urban centers; sleeping on the street and struggling to make ends meet. During the summer school break, the number of kids and teens fleeing to urban areas increases. Many become homeless and exploited. Our Vietnam partner Blue Dragon is on the streets day and night looking for young people in need of a helping hand. 🙏 #wearenotforsale #vietnam #endhumantrafficking #humantraffickingawareness #streetkids #socialgood

#YouthHomelessness can take many different forms. Young people without a stable place to stay are on the street without shelter, but more report staying with friends or family (known as "couch surfing"), staying at a shelter, or being part of a transitional housing program. This makes youth #Homelessness harder to see, even though 1 in 10 young adults ages 18-25 experience some form of homelessness in a 12-month period (Voices of Youth Count Study). Download this and other Voices of Youth Count Study graphics to help you communicate who experiences homelessness and what we can do to end it: https://lnkd.in/gXW3zf4a

Almost one in every ten adults new to emergency accommodation here in the Southwest at the end of last year were homeless due to a relationship breakdown with a parent. The rate of single adults having to live at home with their parents is increasing. Most young people want to escape their childhood bedrooms but their very limited housing options are preventing them from doing so. We explore the challenges facing young single adults in our third Home Truths paper - Single Adults Living with their Parents. https://lnkd.in/eWu7RH8n #HomeTruths #CorkSimon #HousingCrisis #PeopleDeserveBetter

Average number of families with children in #NYCDHS shelters per day in FY2023: 12,749 families. Average number in FY 2022: 8,505 families. That’s almost a 50% increase in the number of families with children in shelter between FYs. Read our blog on the Mayor's Management Report: https://bit.ly/3EVfwap It will be essential to watch how these numbers develop as the City continues to tackle several factors impacting the average # of families in shelter—like the influx of newly arrived families & destabilization due to the end of pandemic-era social supports. #MMR #MMR2023 #Homelessness #FamiliesinShelter

Forty per cent of people experiencing homelessness are under the age of 24. We need a range of options available to young people in this situation to navigate their path towards independence. Demand for Youth Foyers is now on the rise, with more than 33 communities seeking investment to build new Youth Foyers in response to the urgent needs of young people for housing and pathways to education and employment. Youth Foyers are a proven solution to combat youth homelessness and break cycles of disadvantage. #YouthFoyers #50FoyersBy2030 #FoyerNetwork #BuildMoreFoyers #EndYouthHomelessness #BeyondHomelessness #EmpowermentThroughEducation #EducationForYouth #EmploymentOpportunities #TransformingLives #LivedExperience #NationalHousingPlan #HomelessnessPlan #JulieCollinsMP #HousingMinister

Did You Know? Every year, around 20,000 young people "age out" of foster care without finding permanent families. That's a lot of individuals facing big challenges ahead. Without the support of a family, these youth are more likely to face homelessness, struggle to find jobs, and even end up in trouble with the law. It's a tough reality, but with more awareness and support, we can make a difference in the lives of these young adults. Let's work together to ensure every youth has the opportunity for a brighter future! Let's rewrite the rules!
Regardless of race, ethnicity, or background, the desire to provide the best for our families unites us all. However, lacking stable housing can hinder job stability and the ability to support loved ones. Providing housing to those experiencing homelessness is a proven strategy for rebuilding lives. In our collective effort to create a community where all families can thrive, it's crucial to rewrite the rules to guarantee everyone has access to housing. Let's work together for a more inclusive and supportive society. #EndHomelessness

Every year, there are almost 40,000 children and young people who have nowhere to live across this country. We've joined more than 100 groups and organisations from every state and territory to lobby for urgent action to unlock Australia’s housing system for children and young people aged 16-24 with nowhere to live. Current policies are creating lifetimes of disadvantage by failing vulnerable children and young people. It’s time to fix our housing system through policy change and dedicated investment into: - Developing a national pool of dedicated youth tenancies. - Providing linked support services to enable young people to pursue their goals and transition to independence. - Addressing the rental gap to ensure viability for housing providers and landlords offering tenancies to young people who have been homeless. You can support by joining the #HomeTime campaign here: www.hometime.org.au #BelieveHousingAustralia #HousingForAll #AffordableHousing #HousingCrisis #FixHousingForYoungPeople

“While living in an encampment is a last resort, it is often a better option than the streets or shelters for people experiencing #homelessness.” Visit the Homeless Hub to learn about the structural and systemic failures connected to a rise in #encampments. This study examines how these failures create inadequate services that drive people to live in encampments, as well as how these factors connect to #HealthCare and the human #Right2Housing: https://bit.ly/3qPTUsz
