Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA)’s Post

NWSRA was excited to partner with Ryne, from Scout Troop #297. Working on his Eagle Scout Project, with the help of Hoffman Estates Park District, Ryne, built and installed a 12-foot tall bird house for PURSUIT Hoffman Estates. PURSUIT clients are excited to maintain the bird house and see all the birds come visit.

To keep on theme with NWSRA's 50th anniversary, we are excited to celebrate our 50,000th mile of accessible transportation provided in 2024! PURSUIT Hoffman Estates was thrilled that their bus, Drifter, was the bus to reach this milestone! 🚌 🎉

This morning at All Staff, Josh, our facility coordinator, presented our game ball to Danielle, one of our recreation specialists. Josh passed the game ball to Danielle "For always being on top of facility requests, teaching staff about tie downs, emphasizing safety and going the extra mile!" Join us in congratulating Danielle for being the game ball winner this week! 🏐

NWSRA is excited to be at the Rolling Meadows Park District Touch a Truck event! Come check out one of NWSRA’s accessible buses till 1:30 pm today!

NWSRA, Special Leisure Services Foundation (SLSF), and the Rolling Meadows Park District are proud to be hosting Illinois Park and Recreation Foundation's board meeting. IPRF’s goal is to raise funds to support the development of park and recreation professionals.

On Friday, June 10th, four Social Clubs kicked off the summer at a concert in the park! The groups attended Friday Night Rockin’ the Lakes at Twin Lakes and enjoyed music by Bucket Number 6. It was a perfect summer night filled with smiling faces and dancing feet! We are looking forward to more Social Club events this summer!

Today's highlight for NWSRA's "I Am" campaign is Miyah Ruiz. Miyah is a Direct Support Professional who says "Every day that I come to work the participants give me a reason to smile, laugh, dance and just have fun! They allow you to let go of the uncertainties of the world, and just enjoy yourself in the present moment. ‘There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a person as more’ (Robert M.
