As May comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to reflect on an incredibly productive and rewarding month at Apex North Business Coaching. This month has been a testament to the power of collaboration, learning, and community. One of the highlights was the NARI workshop event. Engaging with such a dedicated group of professionals and sharing insights on leadership and growth was truly inspiring. The energy in the room was palpable, and the discussions we had were both thought-provoking and action focused. It's always fulfilling to see the impact of our collective efforts in real-time. Additionally, our founder, Glen Dall, speaking at the workshop hosted by the Minnesota Construction Association was another significant moment. We extend our sincerest gratitude to the entire team at MCA for orchestrating such a valuable event. The commitment to fostering growth and development within the organization is truly commendable. Connecting with attendees from Ames Construction, Orion Search Group, Kaas Wilson Architects, Ryan Companies US, Inc., and many others was enriching. Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what drive meaningful change. Participating in "The Sales Team You Deserve" event presented by Mike Carroll of Intelligent Conversations and co-organized with Jeff Redmon Breakthrough Impact Group was another highlight. Mike Carroll's expertise and the engaging conversations that were had around building and leading high-performing sales teams were invaluable. Reflecting on the last 6 Months leading the EMEA Construction Channel Sales team As I mark six months in my new role, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the journey so far. It’s been a period of immense growth, learning, and adaptation. Here are some key thoughts I’ve been mulling over. Trust Building: I’ve learned that trust is built over time through consistency, transparency, and mutual respect. It’s the foundation of our team’s success, a success that lies in a high trust environment. Adaptation: Adapting to new ways of working can be challenging, but it’s also where innovation thrives. Embracing change has been crucial and I’m grateful for the daily support of my own leaders and peers especially Angi Izzi Mike Malkin Adam Herried AJ Jenkins FISM and Christina Linauts helping me to support my team better. Prioritisation: Leading multiple team members across EMEA has reminded me to be agile and strategic in prioritising tasks and goals, ensuring everyone is aligned and empowered is so important. But recognising that everyone else’s priorities may be different is even more so! I am deeply grateful for the support and dedication of my fantastic team,Danielle Foss Giovanni Quartana Hilal Çakmak Yaz Shqara Kimberly Eid, my mentors, and colleagues. The biggest blessing that this past month has brought has been able to do a complete 360 look at all the items left to finish up The Lion Attitude book. There have been so many stories shared with me about how broken leadership is in the AEC industry and there is something that I had on my mind a lot last week thinking about this. People are for the most part not intentionally trying to be evil or hurt others when they display patterns as Attackers and Con-Artists not having the ability to Act + Connect together. Not having Purpose is also something the majority of the workforce doesn't have per Gallup (75%). We have never taught a process of how to develop Inner Leadership before to others. When you look at things overall leadership in the AEC was broken from the beginning. If what development was being provided to people was so effective then the Harvard Business Review would not have data showing we waste 180 Billion every year on it. We would also have training by people that would result in an effectiveness of more than 10%. Let's put in perspective here that the federal government is more efficient with spending money (1 Dollar in = 0.30 Cents out for projects - 30%) than we are teaching leadership to people and developing people. I have heard countless stories about all these outside consultants people waste money on every year in the AEC industry with zero background or knowledge about our blue collar field. We would never hire our local dentist to build our house in the neighborhood right hopefully..... Yet we do this everyday when outsiders are trying to teach leadership in our field that have never worked in the AEC industry at all. The assumption is working at the florist shop will be the same leadership skills as working as a general contractor. This is why the Lion Attitude was built to solve this specific problem and why I am so passionate about reinventing leadership so we can change the AEC industry that people think about as their #1 choice to be part of. Blue Collar fields have a major labor shortage right now and people are walking away from AEC in very high numbers. I am grateful that my time right now has been able to be spend working to get this final leg of the journey done so we can change leadership for good one day. --- Roaring out to all the Lions and Lionesses! The new award criteria for use in the 2024 Baldrige Award process are now available!   Derived from the content and concepts found in the Baldrige Excellence Framework® and literature on organizational resilience, the tailored set of criteria focuses on the drivers and indicators of resilience and long-term success, such as planning and preparation, communication and collaboration, evaluation and improvement, agility, and innovation. The criteria are organized around eight performance dimensions:  Leadership and Governance  Strategy  Operations  Operational Continuity  Workforce  Customers and Markets  Community Engagement  Finance  This is a significantly streamlined set of criteria for the award, focused on evaluating only what is essential to identify role models of resilience and long-term success. However, it is important to understand that the changes to the evaluation process have made this possible. The first phase of the evaluation, Application Review, focuses on performance results and outcomes achieved.
