Do you level your arena after jumping?
The force exerted by a horse landing after a jump can create divots or indentations in the arena, particularly if the surface is not well-maintained. These divots can then alter the levelness and compactness of the footing, creating uneven areas around repeated take off and landing points. Not only does this provide less cushioning and support for the horse's limbs during these phases, but it also increases the risk of injury to both the horse and rider.
We always recommend regular maintenance of an arena to prevent issues like these and to ensure optimal conditions for performance!
