Congratulations to Carolyn Collier, who was recently recognized for her achievement as the longest-serving teammate with our dietary department. Teammates in Dietary ensure our patients receive nutritious, balanced meals prepared to each patient’s specific nutritional needs. Carolyn joined the NMHS team in 1981, where she began her tenure at our Women’s Hospital in Tupelo. In her 43 years with North Mississippi Health Services, Carolyn has assisted in several kitchens, filling in wherever there is a need for extra hands. “Carolyn is so engaging,” writes her peer who nominated her for this exemplary recognition. “She’s always positive and we know we can rely on her. It’s always a good shift when Carolyn is there.” Thank you for being so dedicated to our patients, Carolyn, and congratulations on this impressive milestone. We appreciate you!

North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo recently honored Jayda Williams with the prestigious DAISY Award for her exceptional consideration of a patient’s needs. A graduate of the Mississippi University for Women with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Jayda joined our emergency department team as a registered nurse in 2022. The DAISY Award is a national recognition program that celebrates nurses who go above and beyond to not only provide patients and families with excellent care but also compassion. Jayda was nominated for this award when a peer noticed she had stayed after her shift ended. They learned that Jayda had a patient who needed some extra compassion. “The patient had been involved in an accident and didn’t have any friends and family who could help him at the time,” writes her nomination form. “Jayda wanted to ensure that he was able to safely return home.” When the patient was discharged, Jayda, true to her word and with the patient’s permission, ordered him a ride so he could get home safely. Her nominated notes Jayda’s strong values and passion for patient care. Says her peer who nominated her, “Jayda is such a wonderful example of what the DAISY Award represents – she truly is an outstanding role model to all of us.” The excellence in our nurses showcases itself in many ways, including extending extra compassion to patients who need support after discharge. We are honored to celebrate Jayda’s kindness and persistence in supporting her patients in any way she can. Congratulations again, Jayda! #WhatConnectsYou
