Graduate Assistant | MS in IS at University of Cincinnati| Actively seeking full time, fall co-op , internship opportunities.
*** Appreciation Post *** Today marked the last day for our CIO Forum class at the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business, and I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dan Whitacre for helping us network with a diverse array of industry experts who imparted invaluable insights and wisdom. Here's a glimpse of my key takeaways from each guest speaker: Steve Wanamaker emphasized that data cannot be viewed in isolation and underscored the equal importance of driving profitability for businesses. Mark Johnson stressed goal setting and life balance, advocating for visualizing goals and assigning specific timelines for personal and professional development. Kirk Ball provided insights into senior IT executive journeys, emphasizing understanding business, effective communication, and strategic storytelling. Orlando Sprockel shared wisdom on culture, emotional intelligence, and leadership, highlighting the human element in tech leadership. Bhavna Mehta showcased the importance of IT professionals understanding broader business contexts, merging healthcare and technology expertise. Shazafar Ahmed inspired tech boundary breaking and continuous learning, emphasizing connections, mentorship, and personal growth in tech careers. These last 7 Thursday nights have been truly invaluable, etching unforgettable memories and learnings into our journey. As we bid farewell to this enriching experience, I am filled with eager anticipation to translate these insights and lessons into action within the industry settings, propelling towards greater heights of success and fulfillment #Gratitude #CIOForum #UniversityofCincinnati #TechLeadership #PersonalDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth

Thank you 🙏 Jennifer Gerves-Keen for sharing!! Your post got me thinking 💭🤔🧐 We're so often taught the importance of #leadership - those pivotal roles where we guide teams and drive progress. But what about #followership? Both are vital skills for #success. Following means supporting a shared #vision, not just passive compliance. It's rolling up sleeves to help #leaders succeed. 💪 But how often do we discuss this equally important job? 🤔 A leader without followers is just a person alone in a room. 🚶 And true #partnerships emerge when we understand each perspective. We must value not just those at the helm, but the hands that help steer the ship. 🤝 Has our focus on producing leaders left some unable to follow well? We accomplish more #together than apart. The next time you are offered a leadership position, reflect also on how you'll empower others to lead in turn. 🙏 Being a great follower makes you a better leader. We develop by studying both roles. 🧠 What are your thoughts on learning the art of followership alongside leadership? How might prioritizing both strengthen your skills and teams?
Still reflecting on all the learning and connections from the Global Followership Conference in Glasgow last week at the University of Strathclyde. In the post-pandemic workforce of 2024, followership is a critical skill both for organizational success and individual career progression and yet very few people in the field of leadership talk about it, or are even aware of it. The followership community is rich in knowledge, talent and research and I encourage you to delve a little deeper to learn more, or reach out - I'd be happy to chat! Huge thanks to Samantha Kerr Hurwitz, CPA CHRL, Marc Hurwitz, PhD MBA MSc MSc CMC, Dr. Wendy M. Edmonds, David Scott and the rest of the conference team, along with my fellow presenters and attendees who created an open and energetic learning environment! To name a few: Lindsay Y. Burr, Tim Hurson, Sharna Fabiano, Ira Chaleff, Debra Finlayson, MA, SHRM-CP, CPHR, Jane Bentley, Langley Sharp MBE, Greg Malone, David Love MSc(Ed), David Chant, Simon Lash https://lnkd.in/dHgRCisY

Over the last week I have been inspired the vibrant activity in the #FairChance hiring space that’s sweeping across the United States. This is a pivotal moment, as Second Chance hiring is not merely a short-term trend but a critical issue that we must address. It holds the promise of revitalizing our economy, fortifying our communities, and building the next generation of vibrant, healthy families. On Monday JPMorgan Chase & Co. and the Valley of the Sun United Way announced the newly formed “FairChance Collaborative” which will be a GAME CHANGER for us in AZ. And, now this #SecondChanceMonth two prominent business schools are hosting Fair Chance convenings. It is an exciting time! The “Writing the Code: Second Chance Hiring” conference at MIT Sloan School of Management is a testament to this movement’s momentum. With industry titans like Nike, Intel, Kroger, and Union Pacific participating, and one of my favorites, Jeff Korzenik is speaking, it’s evident that Second Chance hiring is being embraced as a sound and impactful business practice. And one we can not wait on! At Arouet we are proud to be creating opportunities for those deserving a fair chances and meaningful opportunities. We are dedicated to the belief that investing in people is synonymous with investing in a prosperous future for everyone. Let’s keep advocating for this vital cause, as it is not only beneficial for business but crucial for building a more inclusive and just society. #fairchancehiring SecondChanceHiring #EconomicGrowth #CommunityDevelopment #FamilySupport #comehomestayhome #puttingtalentbacktowork

🤨 Slow and steady might win a participation ribbon...Ever feel like change on campus is moving at a 🐌 snail's pace? Here's a wake-up call: Real progress doesn't need to be slow. It's time to shift gears 🏎 and embrace urgency. Forget the naysayers who equate speed with recklessness and doodling and diddling with righteousness. The secret sauce? 💥 Empower more people to make decisions. It sounds counterintuitive, especially in today's high-stakes climate, but it's a game-changer for those serious about staying in demand. Think of it as teaching your team to 🤔 think, not just follow orders. This approach doesn't just speed things up; it ignites a 🔥 fire of innovation and responsibility. 💡 And remember, trying to excel at everything leads to 'exhausted mediocrity.' Prioritize, focus, and watch your campus performance soar. I was inspired greatly this month by the book "Move Fast and Fix Things: The Trusted Leader's Guide to Solving Hard Problems" by Frances Frei and Anne Morriss.
