Probably going to get worse with accelerated retirement of base load synchronous machines being replaced by variable grid following inverter based resources.

IBR's Fast frequency response should be checked carefully if they are efficient in arresting frequency instability. Otherwise it would be hard to maintain system stability without the aid of synchronous machine.
