He is the co-founder of one of Germany's hottest deep tech startups, eleQtron GmbH. eleQtron has developed a special technology called MAGIC that he and his Siegen-based team are using to revolutionize the quantum computing industry. I interviewed Jan for one of my latest FORBES DA articles, I’ll share the link to the issue below. Talking to Jan is always a pleasure. No one can explain a supposedly complex and dry topic like #quantumcomputing as vividly and enthusiastically as he can. I tried to reflect that in my FORBES article. Meeting Jan yesterday at the Hello Tomorrow conference was definitely one of my highlights. Other highlights of day 1 were: 🚀 Hearing Lynn Rothshield from NASA Ames Research Center talk about why the 21st century will be the century of life sciences on earth and beyond 🚀 Talking to Antoine Gourevitch, Managing Director & Senior Partner at BCG, who gave me a great idea by asking great questions 🚀 Meeting Mohamed Tazi, who founded and sold Gymlib before launching a deep-tech startup with Spore.bio 🚀 A big hug instead of a handshake from Prue Bauer, CEO of Australian startup Airgarden. There should be more hugs in business! Can’t wait for day 2 today! #DeepTech #Startups #HelloTomorrow

Working with early-stage startups is the absolute best. You get the opportunity to play a small part in what is often at least quite the dramatic storyline and sometimes, a pretty theatrical production. You get to talk to founders at the point they're still figuring out who their customers are and what their value proposition is, and watch them (hopefully) take actions and make decisions that lead to great things. Over time, you start to hone your antenna and recognise the ones that have a spark, either within the problem they're solving, the tech, or (often) the team. You get a kick out of making a connection for them, supporting them, and shining a light on what they're doing. And, at the end of the day, you get to say 'I was into them before they were...' Spotting the spark, and shining a light on great pre-seed tech companies before anyone else does. That's what we do at PreSeed Now. Few do it better than Martin SFP Bryant. 👩🚀 🌌 Fab to see Bianca Cefalo and Space DOTS® featured in The Times - we profiled this cool #spacetech startup 6 months ago 📰 https://lnkd.in/e-B34s3g 👉 https://lnkd.in/epMXggN6 💸 And congrats to Ryan Donnelly, Jack Carlisle and the rest of Team Enzai on the $4m raise - you saw them first in PreSeed Now over a year ago. 📰https://lnkd.in/eqGQf_ZT 👉 https://lnkd.in/egm433Gn #EarlyStageStartups #PreSeedTech #FoundersJourney #TechInnovation #ValueProposition #NetworkingMagic #SpottingTheSpark #InvestingInFuture #PreSeedNow #BeforeTheyWereFamous #StartupEcosystem #UkStartups #SpaceTech #AIStartups #CapitalRaise #TheTimesFeature #SiftedEU

What is the first questions Innovation DTEK addresses to whatsoever startup when we are approached? How developed is your idea? Since Innovation DTEK inception we have been using the Technology Readiness Level introduced long time ago by NASA to get answered to this question. However, in time we have understood that technology is not enough to assess a startup proposal. What about Customers, business model, intellectual property, team and funding? Sometimes the technology level is low however the startup team is composed by excellent people, should we deny the startup an opportunity to pilot with us? The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm KTH Royal Institute of Technology has developed a new methodology called Innovation Readiness Level that takes into account all of these parameters and this year we are implementing this model as a new approach in evaluating startups that we pilot within DTEK. #InnovationDTEK #Innovation #Openinnovation #KTHInnovation #InnovationReadinessLevel Andrii Bondar Oksana Dybkina Margaryta Grachova Mykyta Lazarev Serhii Tankevych Donnie SC Lygonis

No wonder why BCI is a trend in the 'Tech trends to watch 2024' from CB Insights! And Neuralink first brain implants could not be left out!🔥 Experts discussed the pros and cons of invasive versus non-invasive BCI, advances, clinical impact, challenges of data ownership, privacy, and much more! Nataliya Kosmyna, a researcher from MIT, showcased her developed glasses with embedded brain sensors. Balint Varkuti, CEO of Ceregate GmbH, explained the huge impact of invasive BCI in surgery and procedures! 📝 But the main takeaway is… "Phones will become obsolete and will be replaced by brain-worn devices! They will be mainstream within 6 years." 💥 👀 I am so glad SleepUp is on the right track with its EEG headband for #sleep & #brain health! 🚀😴 💰🌱DEEPTECH FUNDING LANDSCAPE It was a great discussion with the best experts about investment, trends, hurdles, ecosystems, founders! Pae Wu – General Partner at SOSV Steven Jacobs – Partner at Lakestar Yoram Wijngaarde – Founder CEO of Dealroom.co 📝 My key takeaways are... - Deeptech investment requires a combination of VCs, Corporates, Grants, and Debt as funding strategy. - What makes a good entrepreneur: maniacal and infectious passion and resilience, ability to move fast, and find the easiest paths. - Investment trends: big world problems, democratization of computing, hardtech components, water, space, climate, health, tech bio, clinical trials, cyber security, material science. - What is a deeptech startup: science breakthrough tech being applied for the first time into products. - Deeptech requires an international mindset and presence: it is important to be in the right place, with high density of talent, resources, investors, as they drive growth. - Europe is the heart of deeptech investment, representing the largest investment category, mainly UK, FR, SE. Meanwhile, the USA focuses more on late-stage and represents 20% of the total investment. #hellotomorrow #deeptech #innovation #science #tecnology #investors #startup #BCI #wearables #BraincomputerInterface #healthtech #Medtech #investment #brain #sleep #movimentodeeptech

🚀 Super ecstatic to introduce our second foray in SpaceTech, collaborating with the exceptional team - Manu J. Nair (BML Munjal University), Prashanth S. (UPES ), and Shubhayu Sardar as they build EtherealX (India’s SpaceX). At the forefront of EtherealX's ambitious endeavours is the development of the Razor Crest Mk-1, set to be the world’s first (indigenously developed) fully reusable medium-lift launch vehicle with the capability to dispatch payloads of up to 24.8 tonnes to the Lower Earth Orbit (LEO) in expendable configuration, 22.8 tonnes in partially reusable configuration, and 8 tonnes in fully reusable configuration to 400 KMs - LEO. Witnessing such remarkable innovation is both humbling and exhilarating. It serves as a powerful inspiration for budding #studententrepreneurs, encouraging them to fearlessly pursue ambitious dreams and challenge the status quo—even if it involves the complexities of rocket science :) Our belief of investing in student led startups, highlights our resolve to venture into uncharted territories, with students at the forefront of innovation.
