Noble is constantly striving to use components that reduce downtime and increase safety, as a benefit to our crews and our customers. Our collaboration with Oilgear has grown since 2019 when we were the first company to successfully field trial and install Oilgear SPM valves on a BOP control POD. The Oilgear Multifunction SPM valve is a completely new design which can be installed in Normally Closed, Normally Open, Normally Closed Bias, and Normally Open Bias applications with no changes to the valve. This simplifies operations and maintenance while eliminating the possibility of installing a valve in incorrectly. The evolution of BOP components is an effort that should be cooperative between manufacturers and end-users. The safety stakes are high, and the functional improvements are appealing. We appreciate the opportunity to support vendors who are as invested as we are in operational excellence.

Noble Corporation announced today that we have entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire Diamond Offshore in a stock plus cash transaction. Robert Eifler, Noble’s President and CEO commented, “This acquisition enables Noble to continue our journey of delivering superior innovation and value to a broad range of the leading offshore operators across the world. Our position will be strengthened with the addition of four 7th generation drillships and one of the most high-spec harsh environment semisubmersible rigs in the world." Murphy Oil Corporation has exercised their option for the Noble Stanley Lafosse to drill five additional wells in the Gulf of Mexico. This extension is expected to span one year and has an estimated contract value of $177 million. Included in this extension is an additional unpriced option for a further 5 wells. “The relationship with Murphy is incredibly valuable to Noble and we appreciate the trust they have placed in us by exercising an option for these important wells,” said Blake Denton, SVP of Marketing and Contracts.
