Vote rescheduled February 6th! Dealer Rule to be Voted On: On Wednesday, January 31, the SEC will hold an open meeting to vote on whether to adopt new rules to further define the phrase “as a part of a regular business” as used in the statutory definitions of the terms “dealer” and “government securities dealer” under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, in connection with certain liquidity providers. If adopted, these rules may significantly impact certain market participants, including by increasing the number of potential registered dealers and/or changing trading behaviors to avoid dealer status.
