Recently, I contributed to a series of testimonials for The WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO)'s campaign promoting mental health literacy. These videos aim to counter stigma, empower individuals with lived experience, and shape policies and services for mental health and substance use disorders. According to WHO EMRO, "Mental health problems are among the top 10 leading causes of disease burden worldwide and the single largest contributor to years lived with disability." It's staggering that "at any given time, one person in every 10 is suffering from a mental health problem, and more than 20% of people who have experienced an emergency are estimated to be suffering from a mental disorder such as depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder." Let's join hands to combat stigma and promote mental health awareness. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Team Taskeen for their unwavering support throughout this process. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day Scary and sad statistics on suicide.. ⚠️ 78% of suicides are by males. ⚠️ Suicide is the bigger killer for me aged 18 to 45. ⚠️ In 2018 there were 6507 deaths by suicide which equates to 18 a day. This absolutely breaks my heart and definitely motivates me to do my bit to help the world. World Suicide Prevention day is hosted by International Association for Suicide Prevention While the signs might be hard to spot, you can do your bit for friends in need by listening.
