Raising day-old chicks to growers involves creating a suitable environment and providing proper nutrition and care. Use dry bedding like sawdust or rice husks. - Feeding: Offer starter feed, avoiding mixing with other feeds not designed for chicks. - Medication:Administer chick formula, vitamins, and medicated paraffin for health and digestion. Vaccinate against Newcastle disease on day 7. Week 2 (Day 8-14): - Feeding:Continue with the starter feed. - Medication: Replace vitamins with a coccidiostat to prevent coccidiosis. Discontinue medicated paraffin. Administer Gumboro vaccine on day 14. Week 3 (Day 15-21): - Feeding: Maintain the same diet. - Medication: Provide a combination of vitamins and antibiotics. Repeat the Newcastle vaccine. Week 4 (Day 22-28): - Feeding: Begin mixing chick mash with the starter feed. -Medication: Continue with coccidiostat and administer the Gumboro vaccine on day 28. Week 5: - Feeding:Use chick mash or crumbs, or a mix of both. -Medication: Provide vitamins. Week 6: - Feeding: Same as week 5. - Medication: Administer coccidiostat and Strexia. - Vaccination: Vaccinate against fowl pox. Week 7: - Feeding: Gradually introduce grower feed by mixing it with chick mash. - Medication: Offer feed supplements like molar plus, vigosine, or tonophos. Week 8: - Feeding: Transition to grower mash, which can be mixed with pellets and other ingredients for a balanced diet. - Medication: Provide vitamins and antibiotics. - Vaccination: Vaccinate against fowl typhoid. For optimal growth and health, maintain a clean environment, monitor the chicks' behavior, and adjust care as needed¹²³⁴.
