WHO’S BEHIND ATLAS TENNIS? PART 2: The Director and Coaches As Atlas Tennis moves into the wider public eye, we are striving to avoid being just another tennis company out there, where people are familiar with the name and their content, but don't really know who exactly is behind it. In our last post, we recapped the partners that have put their full support behind our mission, and for Part 2, we’ll get into the people that are working on Atlas Tennis on a daily basis. Ben Shapiro the Director of Atlas Tennis and the only year-round, full time employee. Pretty much everything you see related to Atlas runs through him (including these posts where he writes about himself in third person!). Ben is 29, grew up in Scarsdale, NY, lives in NYC, and has been playing tennis since he was 5, competing in USTA tournaments, then in college, and still in various leagues around NYC. As a teen, he would’ve been a perfect candidate to go on an Atlas Tennis trip if the company had existed. The memories of that teenage period of life are still relatively fresh in his mind—of becoming more independent, wanting to see new places, meet new people, and have a new tennis experience removed from the typical junior experience of training, tournaments, and high school tennis. Ben has worked in tennis his entire career, starting to coach when he was 15 and continuing to work in different tennis jobs since. He coached college tennis at Wesleyan University, where the women’s won their first ever NCAA National Championship in 2019 while he was also named Assistant Coach of the Year. More recently he worked in the world of pro tennis at the USTA, where he helped to hire and manage a team of over 100 employees on the Player Operations team at the US Open. While all of those past experiences are part of the journey to Atlas Tennis, perhaps nothing has been more directly impactful than the four summers from 2016-2019 that Ben led groups of teenage tennis players to play tournaments in Europe—seeing first-hand the potential that exists with this concept. The last piece, but also the most important, of who is behind Atlas Tennis? That would be the coaches! They will be with each team for the entire trip, from the airport in NYC until everyone returns home. “Coach” only begins to cover what these team members will do. They run daily training, provide match analysis, work with tournament directors on scheduling, and make sure our players are getting the most out of every day. They're also there to manage everything travel related—hotels, rental vans, airports, meals, and more. And most importantly, our coaches are with the group 24/7 to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort at all times. These roles obviously require a ton of responsibility, and we are extremely picky about who we select. Ultimately, the most successful trips always have one constant—awesome coaches, which is why we won’t settle for anything less than an all-star team!

Dear School Administrators, As we continually strive to enhance our students' educational experience, it's crucial to consider the importance of physical activity and sports in their overall development. With this in mind, I would like to propose the addition of a Padel tennis court to Your school's sports facilities. Padel tennis is a rapidly growing sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, making it accessible and enjoyable for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Adding a Padel tennis court to Your facilities would not only diversify the range of sporting activities available to our students but also promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Here are some compelling reasons to consider integrating a Padel tennis court into Your school's sports program: Inclusivity: Padel tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels, making it an inclusive activity that encourages participation from a wide range of students. Physical Fitness: Padel tennis provides an excellent cardiovascular workout while also improving agility, coordination, and reflexes. It offers a fun and engaging way for students to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Team Building: Padel tennis is typically played in doubles, promoting teamwork, communication, and cooperation among players. These skills are invaluable both on and off the court and can contribute to a positive school community. Social Engagement: The social aspect of padel tennis is another significant benefit. It provides students with the opportunity to interact with their peers in a recreational setting, fostering friendships and camaraderie. Skill Development: Padel tennis involves strategic thinking and problem-solving, as players must anticipate their opponents' moves and adapt their gameplay accordingly. It challenges students to continuously improve their skills and techniques, promoting personal growth and development. Facility Utilization: By adding a padel tennis court to Your sports facilities, we can make more efficient use of available space and resources, maximizing the benefits for our students and the broader school community. Why Pathways are Essential in Junior Tennis Development 🎾 Adding new pathways and play options for a tennis junior program can provide numerous benefits for young players, the program itself, and the community. Here are several advantages: ➡ Increased Participation: Introducing new pathways and play options can attract more juniors to join the program. By offering various playing formats such as singles, doubles, team competitions, and social events, you can cater to a broader range of interests and skill levels. ➡ Skill Development: Different pathways allow juniors to focus on specific aspects of their game. For example, adding a pathway dedicated to doubles play can help young players develop teamwork, communication, and strategic skills that are crucial for success in doubles matches. ➡ Enhanced Engagement and Retention: Offering diverse play options keeps juniors engaged and motivated to continue participating in the program. Whether they prefer competitive matches, social play, or team events, having choices ensures that every player can find activities that align with their interests. ➡ Social Development: Tennis is not just about hitting the ball; it's also about building friendships and learning important life skills. Offering team-based competitions and social events fosters camaraderie among players, promotes sportsmanship, and teaches valuable lessons about teamwork, resilience, and fair play. ➡ Long-term Player Development: By providing diverse pathways, the program can support the long-term development of juniors, helping them progress from beginner to advanced levels. Players introduced to different playing formats and strategies early on are more likely to develop a well-rounded game and stay involved in tennis for years to come. ➡ Community Building: A vibrant junior tennis program contributes to a strong sense of community within the club or organization. Parents, coaches, and players come together to support and celebrate each other's achievements, creating a positive and inclusive environment for everyone involved. ➡ Talent Identification and Pathway to Higher Levels: Offering a variety of pathways allows coaches to identify talent and potential at an early age. Players who excel in certain formats or show particular strengths can be guided towards more advanced levels of competition, potentially leading to opportunities for college scholarships, professional careers, or leadership roles within the sport. In conclusion, adding new pathways and play options to a tennis junior program can enrich the overall experience for young players, foster their development on and off the court, and contribute to the growth of the sport within the community.

Exploring Pathways in Junior Tennis: A Roadmap to Success 🌟 As a former junior tennis player and now deeply involved in the tennis community, I often reflect on the various pathways available for young athletes looking to make their mark in the sport. Whether you're a budding talent or a parent guiding your child's journey, understanding these pathways is crucial for charting a course towards success. Here are some insights into the different routes junior tennis players can take: 1. Tournament Circuit: For those seeking competition and exposure, the tournament circuit offers a platform to test skills against peers and climb the rankings. From local events to international tournaments, players can gain valuable experience and earn recognition through their performances on the court. 2. High School Tennis: Many junior players opt to compete for their high school teams, balancing academics with athletics. High school tennis provides opportunities for team camaraderie, leadership development, and the chance to represent one's school with pride. 3. College Tennis: The collegiate pathway offers a unique blend of competitive tennis and academic pursuits. Student-athletes have the chance to compete at a high level while earning a degree, opening doors for future career opportunities both in and out of tennis. 4. Academy Training: Training at a specialized tennis academy, such as Mouratoglou Tennis Academy or IMG Academy, provides a focused environment for skill development and mentorship from top coaches. Players can immerse themselves in a culture of excellence and prepare for success at the professional level. 5. Professional Tour: For the most ambitious and talented juniors, the ultimate goal may be to compete on the professional tour. This pathway requires dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the pursuit of excellence. While challenging, the rewards of reaching the pinnacle of the sport are immeasurable. It's important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to junior tennis. Each player's journey is unique, and the key is to find the pathway that aligns with individual goals, strengths, and aspirations. Whether it's pursuing a college scholarship, honing skills at an academy, or chasing dreams on the professional tour, the journey is as important as the destination. As mentors and supporters, let's empower young athletes to follow their passion and realize their full potential in the wonderful world of tennis! 🌟🎾 #JuniorTennis #TennisPathways #TennisJourney #NextGenTennis

INTRODUCING THE TENNISMATICS INITIATIVE The Tennismatics Initiative is my BTC project which employs the TABLE TENNIS GAME as a tool for making the learning of mathematics fun and playlike for learners. Do you know that there are so many interesting mathematical concepts embedded in the game of table tennis, which my research has proven to be very potent in helping children learn mathematics with ease? Do you also know that table tennis is played on a rectangular board (plane shape) which is divided into two halves( fraction) with each of the four corners of the table giving us angles and forming another plane shape called triangles? Again, do you know that the dimensions of the table adhere to specific standards, with precise measurements for length, width and height? Now, in the game itself, do you know that players score points based on mathematical principles? For instance, a match is typically played to a certain number of points and players alternate serves in a sequence determined by mathematical rules. The scoring system involves integers, and the first player to reach a predetermined total wins the game. What of the tennis ball itself which is a 3-D shape called sphere? Therefore, more specifically, The Tennismatics Initiative intends to 🏓Integrate and weave the game of table tennis into the teaching of mathematics. 🏓Use the scoring system in table tennis to make the teaching of mathematics fun and playlike. 🏓Use game scenarios to find solutions to mathematical problems. 🏓Train learners in the actual playing of table tennis. 🏓Organize table tennis tournaments for learners to foster collaboration in the face of competition. So, ladies and gentlemen, help this lofty dream materialize by donating either in kind or cash using the details on the flier below. TENNISMATRIX.NET TESTIMONIALS: "I have never come across a more effective ladder system than TennisMatrix.net in my 45+ years of teaching tennis. Its efficient technology makes it seamless to remove or add players, manage individual accounts, view past ladders, monitor player statistics, and obtain a financial breakdown. Since 2012, I have consistently run adult, women's and junior ladder events, quarterly per year, averaging 90, 35 and 35 participants respectively. TennisMatrix.net has increased competition, significantly improving the level of play across all ages and levels. TennisMatrix.net has allowed me to maximize coaching, driving revenue both for Manhattan Bay Club and me personally." Mark McGuire Head Pro MCC Manhattan Beach, CA "I've had TennisMatrix.net ladders for 6 years now 4 times per year with summer, fall, winter and spring ladders. I should have started it sooner! It's a great revenue source with low maintenance that keeps my juniors involved in my program. By competing and testing their skills, they want to take more lessons and clinics. I actually look at all the results because I'm curious about their progress. I've been a Tennis Director at many clubs and this is the first time I've seen a successful ongoing ladder. They always fizzle out and no one plays. With TennisMatrix.net there's an 8 week ladder so people actually play their matches with a beginning and end date. They report their results on their own and they like everyone seeing their results online. I rotate between the one-up, one-down system and the round robin and both formats are popular. I don't mind paying a small percentage for the website because of the low maintenance on my end and I'm still doing well. You can charge whatever you want. I charge $60/person and I actually think they would pay a lot more. They pay their own court fees. Everyone always thanks me for this match opportunity. I like how the monetary reward for going undefeated is built into the system. I really don't see why almost every Tennis Director on the planet wouldn't use this platform!"
