A profound reflection from the CD Conference, Unilever Southern Africa: 1) We work hard, everyday is super fast paced and because of this, intentional pauses to reflect on Strategy are essential. 2) Because we work very hard we also owe it to ourselves to unwind and enjoy ourselves ( yes we partied also it was really great) 3) Inspiration matters. The highlight for me at the Conference was being absolutely inspired and challenged by Hein Wagner (the blind man full of exceptional achievements). His challenge is how we should view the world from a lense of possibilities rather than problems. He shared 3 Laws that really challenged me to view at life more positively: 1) The Law of appreciation for the things we have. 2) The Law of trust- we will get more done in life when we nurture trust in the relationships that we have in life. 3) The Law of Giving- because when we give we not only receive more, but we learn even more! Personally I am taking a lot of reflection on the above and just today I chose to spend the day simply #CountingMyBlessings

I was recently interviewed by CEO Update and got to talk about all the good work we are doing at Consumer Brands Association. Having joined the association a little over a year ago, it was exciting to reflect on the incredible growth we’ve had – we recently announced nine new members including Nestlé, Kraft Heinz, Diageo and Kimberly-Clark – and the value we are delivering for the CPG industry. As I say in the piece, “some of the big, complicated things members are wrestling with are state-related: packaging, recycling and state regulatory initiatives around additives and chemicals. And then you have a whole range of federal issues. There’s really bad framing around inflation and the consumer products business. Politicians like to be pointing fingers at us and I think that’s not correct. So, part of it is being a voice for companies trying to drive facts into the discussion and tell the big story about the role of the industry in the economy.” And telling the industry’s impactful story is what I remain focused on. It’s the start of a promising cooperation between our companies where the first step is a FourFactors training for a global player and their Chinese sales and marketing teams. I had the opportunity to follow “The Complete Skilled Negotiator”, an intense 3.5 days workshop with The Gap Partnership. Hands down the best training I’ve ever been through! 🙌 Here are my 3 take-aways: 1) Preparation is key before entering into any negotiation. Understand both your and the other party’s goals while anticipating objections and counterarguments. 2) Negotiation is not a competition where you have to win. It’s about finding and maximising the value of your deal. Ego has no place in that. 3) Master your communication skills. Listen actively, ask open-ended questions and use non-verbal communication wisely. Big thanks to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners for the trust, the fantastic group of colleagues, and especially to Maxim for his guidance in enhancing my negotiation skills. #negotiation #development #topemployer

If you are in Southern California and are able to attend the below panel would be a wealth of knowledge!! In a world where change is the only constant, staying ahead in your career often hinges on your ability to adapt and grow. But how do you ensure that your professional development is not just a box-ticking exercise, but a strategic move towards your ultimate career goals? Let's talk about intentional learning and its impact on career progression. Intentional learning is about choosing to learn skills and knowledge that align with your career aspirations. It's about being proactive in seeking out opportunities to grow, rather than waiting for them to come to you. Here are a few strategies to make your learning more intentional: 1. Set clear, achievable goals. Know what you want to accomplish in your career and identify the skills you need to get there. 2. Seek out resources. Whether it's online courses, workshops, or books, find quality materials that will help you gain those skills. 3. Apply what you learn. Theory is great, but practice is better. Look for ways to apply new knowledge in your current role. 4. Reflect on your progress. Take time to consider what you've learned and how it's helping you move forward. Remember, the most successful professionals are not just those who are knowledgeable, but those who are constantly learning and adapting. If you're ready to take your professional development to the next level, start by identifying one skill you want to develop this quarter. Then, take the first step today to find a resource that will help you learn that skill. I'd love to hear your thoughts on intentional learning. What strategies have worked for you? Share your experiences in the comments below. Let's keep the conversation going and continue to support each other in our growth journeys. #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerDevelopment #LifelongLearning#Maritz#Meetingsmeanbusiness
