I'm going to be teaching two new courses at the American Society of Civil Engineers' Seminar Week this September, delivered in hybrid format (live in-person & online): 1. Construction Administration for Engineers (14 PDH) (Sept 16th-17th) (https://rb.gy/j9v3h2) This course provides instruction on the fundamentals of construction administration including an introduction to construction law and public contracts, utilizing contract documents for administrative tools, communication and management tools, project controls, administrative processes, payment, managing claims, and project close-out. 2. CM/GC Contracting for Heavy Civil Infrastructure Projects (21 PDH) (Sep 18th-20th) (https://rb.gy/rqhwuz) This course provide instruction on the fundamentals of construction-centric project delivery, integrating the construction manager into the design process via preconstruction services, models for delivering CM/GC projects, contract considerations, design administration, payment and pricing provisions, and CM/GC imperatives. You can save 20% off the registration if you sign up before May 31st using the code WSEP24 at checkout. I love seeing those hard hats at an OU graduation!
Congratulations to the class of 2024 (40 bachelors & 21 master's). The hard hats make them stand out at graduation, but what you can't see at graduation is 100% job placement. Graduate with a career!

Both Douglas Gransberg and myself attended last week's DBIA Southwest Region Conference and gave a presentation on Owner Design Quality Oversight with a case study from the AlexRenew project in Alexandria, VA, a ~$500M Design-Build delivered wastewater tunnel project. It was great getting to link up with our colleagues Raz Ezra and Nissa Guerra at 4M Analytics as well as see their presentation on using AI Technology for Mapping Utilities at Scale. We are thrilled to share insights from the DBIA-SW Regional Conference "Collaborate & Innovate 2024" held in Houston, TX, on May 2-3! Despite the crazy Houston weather, this year's conference was a groundbreaking event, with over 40 industry leaders speaking across 17 sessions, covering the latest trends and innovations in design-build. A huge thank you to the Conference Planning Committee, all the speakers, attendees, volunteers, and sponsors. Your participation and insights make this event a key milestone in our industry every year! 📸 Check out our full blog post for a detailed recap and view photos from the conference here - https://lnkd.in/g_FhUwBM Thank you to our 2024 Conference Sponsors: Burns & McDonnell | Cokinos | Young | IKERD Consulting, LLC | HASEN Design Build & Development, Inc. | MGC Contractors, Inc. | Berkeley Research Group | F S Group Architects | The Beck Group | UES | JE Dunn Construction | Peckar & Abramson, P.C. | McKinstry | Core & Main | Huitt-Zollars, Inc. | CEC® | Coffman Engineers | VanTrust Real Estate | Bowman Engineering & Consulting (BEC) | Enterprise Electrical | Halff | Rosendin | Elements of Architecture, Inc. | Floodproofing.com | Interface Consulting International, Inc. | Revizto | Speed Fab-Crete | Way Engineering, Ltd. | BuildingPoint Central | Rogers-O'Brien Construction | Tolunay-Wong Engineers, Inc. | Weifield Group Contracting | Zumtobel Lighting #DBIASW2024 #DesignBuild #Innovation #ConstructionIndustry #DBIA #Networking #HoustonEvents

Great opportunity to learn about the history of Alternative Project Delivery here in the state of Oklahoma from the man who wrote the book on how to deliver public projects using Design-Build and Construction Manager-at-Risk, helped bring it to this state, and just so happens to be the president of Gransberg & Associates, Inc. as well as my father, Douglas Gransberg. He'll be speaking at the DBIA meeting at the Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City on April 25th, registration is embedded in the link below. #designbuild #constructionmanageratrisk #dbia #projectdelivery #oklahoma
Join us for our next event hosted by the DBIA Oklahoma City Chapter: "A Brief History of Alternative Delivery in Oklahoma Public Projects" on April 25th at the Greens Country Club. Dive deep into the evolution of Design-Build and CMAR in Oklahoma's public projects with Dr. Douglas Gransberg. Don't miss this chance to expand your knowledge and network! Register now to secure your spot! https://bit.ly/4ajyo0O Thank you to JE Dunn Construction for sponsoring this event! #DBIAOKC #AECIndustry #AlternativeDelivery

I've been fortunate to be involved with ASCE Construction Institute Young Professionals Council's Student Days competition for several years now and am continually impressed with the caliber of students that compete. Truly a once in lifetime opportunity for undergrad and graduate engineers and construction management students. If you are or know a student that might be interested, please pass the word!
Call For Action - If you are an undergrad student, apply – https://lnkd.in/dC2zX5-3 - If you work with undergraduate students, share that link with them. - If you are a member of any ASCE-affiliated professional or student group, share the message and the link with the members. Application Deadline - April 28, 2024

Supply chain constraints, market fluctuations and impacts over the last few years have challenged many long-held cost assumptions on material selection and industry-preferred methods. For instance, DOTs increasing acceptance of corrugated HDPE pipe in lieu of preferred Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) due to material availability/lead time considerations. The construction industry is fortunately data-rich providing the opportunity to leverage the ability to identify underlying trends and make better decisions earlier in a project's design and development. An article I recently co-authored with Dr. Douglas Gransberg (President of Gransberg & Associates, Inc.) and Dr. David Jeong (Director of Texas A&M's Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Construction Management Lab) in the latest issue of ASCE Publishing's Civil Engineering Source Magazine introduces a selection of tools that can be used to exploit available cost data, improve value analysis/value engineering processes, and visualize the cost implications of various alternative design solutions. Do you or your organization utilize data-driven visualization tools to improve decision making on your projects? Have you seen or experienced any changes to long-held cost assumptions for materials and/or methods of construction? If you're interested in learning more about visualizing the cost impact of design decisions, you can join us on April 17th for a free webinar hosted by ASCE. The link to register is at the bottom of the article below. https://lnkd.in/dSrfnBgJ
