I am happy to have inspired company speakers in Poland to make short presentations for offline events. The 20-minute limit forces speakers to be more demanding with each slide, daring to avoid unnecessary information. Some might argue that "...you can't cover a topic in depth in 20 minutes!.." I agree. To understand the technical details of a new framework, sometimes you need to study it yourself for two working days, rather than listen to a 1.5 hour lecture during the evening event =) The tasks we set with the speakers before each presentation are different. Sometimes it's just to introduce a new topic/framework/approach that most of the listeners have no experience with. Sometimes it's to tell about a complex case from the working practice and how the team dealt with it. Sometimes - to discuss the topic of effective sleep and its impact on our performance from a medical point of view. Sometimes - to talk about best corporate practices and effective working tools for business communication. The main objective of such presentations is to inspire the audience to explore a favorite topic in more depth, to introduce the employees of each office to internal experts, and to give a lot of topics for evening discussion during the after-party. "Make short presentations, save your colleagues time and energy, keep sharing your knowledge - the world needs it!" - that's how I concluded my 10-minute presentation, in which I inspired Vention employees to try their hand at public speaking. I'm sure we have a lot of cool experts who have something to tell the world.
Last week, we "unplugged” our online TechTalk sessions for a live and in-person gathering in our Łódź and Gdańsk offices! Huge thanks to our speakers for incredibly insightful presentations — lead software engineer Joanna Kupis, business analyst Mateusz Grajnert, group manager Aleksandra Filipovich, project manager Natallia Ozashvili, and guest speaker and project manager Yuliya Lebedeva. Kudos to Adarka Shut and Magda Przybylska for coordinating our Poland-based tech knowledge-sharing sessions. See you all offline soon, at our next unplugged TechTalk 😉

The #rethinkretail #hackathon was an amazing experience. I learned a lot about #VertexAI. How its features can be used to improve user experience and automate tedious task, as well as how easy it is to integrate it into #firebase projects. Huge thank you to everyone involved, especially my teammates Eileen Fürstenau and Steffen Gerdes from MaibornWolff GmbH, the team of organizers from the REWE International AG, the sponsors from Google Cloud, and Sebastian Szalay from BILLA AG, who provided an interesting challenge for us to work on. Maybe our prototype solution can one day be expanded to help establish and track #sustainbility across the #supplychain.
Remembering the time is often tough for me, but this one was special ⏰ A real-world business challenge, 3 developers, and just under 30 hours to solve the problem. That’s what the #rethinkretail Hackathon looked like for us. I was so thrilled by the many creative ideas and technical solutions that my team and I generated in such a short time that I could have stretched the final pitch infinitely. But just like us, the other teams felt the same, so each solution only got 3 minutes to present. No wonder Georg had to charmingly nudge me off the stage eventually. Regardless, our visit to REWE International AG in Vienna was more than worth it. The whole event was excellently organized, we received fantastic inspiration, had a lot of fun, and learned so much new stuff. Thanks to everyone involved for the amazing opportunity and to my MaibornWolff GmbH colleagues Jochen and Steffen for being the best teammates!
