"After dark, revelations and revolutions happen..." This is a brilliant piece, perfectly outlining the importance of #music, and in particular dance floors, on shaping #culture, forming #communities, and promoting freedoms. I'm hopeful that with every club or venue that closes its doors, other ones will spring up, driven by our human need for expression, identity and community. You are uniquely and wonderfully made. If the value of your gift is not aligned with your environment, consider playing in a different environment. But never devalue your unique gift. Renowned violinist, Joshua Bell, sells out concerts worldwide. However, his talent on display in a sub-way is barely noticed. There is nothing wrong with the subway station (in fact there is a lot right about it), and more importantly, there is nothing wrong with the virtuoso. There is just a mismatch between the musician's value and what is valued at the subway station. The point is, the subway does not define Joshua's talent, worth or value. Never allow your setting to define you as less. If your talents are not valued in your current setting, consider a different setting. You are a unique virtuoso. Play your instrument in the right concert hall, and your impact will be amplified.
