Identity, creativity, and memory were erased by systems of racism. Today, they remain inserted in a society that systematically denies them their rights, but we are on the cusp of a different future, in which the diaspora achieves total freedom through a new form of communication based on ancestry. Ancestral Communication sees knowledge as a strategic imperative to promote social transformation. This panel will explore this new way of communicating across language and geography." This is not just about a moment in time, but about the imperative to create systems that allow for the positive evolution of our global society. Adriana aims to strengthen the Afro-entrepreneurial ecosystem on a global scale, collaborating with entrepreneurs and influential partners in the wide variety of countries that make up the African diaspora. This panel serves to explain how vital a role ancestral communication plays in making this happen and I couldn't be more excited that she invited me to be a part of this. Hannah Giorgis, Dr. Marcelo Paixão, Adriana and I plan to bring a variety of examples from our experiences in film/tv, academia, music, entrepreneurship, food and more to make this concept more concrete and provide a clear path for the future... and we plan on having fun while doing it. We won't just explain the concept but we will make sure the audience experiences it, like a game of Spades or a jam session. I never asked you anything. As there is always a first, here I am. 🎤 I want to be on the SxSW 2024 stage, and I need you to help me get there! The title is "The Story You Should Tell Yourself", and I will talk about how we exhaust our brains with the wrong narratives, and how this locks us in a place where there is no space for change. We end up missing the opportunity to include diversity in our lives, perpetuating the differences and inequality. The 3 messages I want to convey are: 1. We are protagonists of our own stories; we should use this gift to create awareness and position the person we want to be by focusing on the future. 2. By actively engaging in dialogue, individuals can bridge cultural divides and create environments that give equal growth opportunities to everyone. 3. Cultural adaptation is a task that both host and guest should accomplish. "Guests" should not have this additional layer of stress on their shoulders. This is such a rich topic, I could talk about it for hours! Many of the issues we face are gender-related. And when we add the ethnicity layer, the norms become even more strict, and the imposter phenomenon kicks in. We can dramatically change how we show up in the world by trusting our brain's ability to build new connections (brain plasticity), creating new behaviors, and working on our storytelling, from the stories we tell ourselves to the ones we repeat out in the world. Fantastic article from Siddhanth Sequeira on decoding Gen Z! As the article suggests, "beneath every trend is an underlying human truth" and understanding this truth, and the cultural conditions that birth these trends, allows us, marketers, to get ahead of them rather than chase them. From the resurgence of these 2 trends, both reflect Gen Z's yearning for stability and escapism. We know brands can thrive by distilling these trends to their fundamental human truths of fostering authentic connections and transcending fleeting fads. In a post-trend era, it's the collision of contradictions that fuels cultural evolution, reminding us to stay curious, diverse, and authentically engaged with the ever-shifting landscape of Gen Z.

There’s a growing sector of the tech industry working to close the gender healthcare gap by creating devices tailored to track women's health. One example is Bloomer Tech, co-founded by Alicia Chong Rodriguez, which has created an undergarment with sensors tailored to track data to detect arrhythmia triggers, breathing patterns, temperature, posture, and movement to help detect and fight #heartdisease in women. Crucial given, all too often, these types of symptoms get dismissed or unrecognized by male doctors. One of the really neat things that came out of the FREEDOM WELLvolution event was many of the women had a common desire: More of HIM Less of technology & distractions. One way that did that was through eliminating social media and only engaging in my private community. At the end of the week, their notifications said their phone usage was down MANY percentage points. The results were more peace, joy & energy so they could have more time with the things and people they love the most. HUGE wins! Hi there! Whether you're brand new to this page or we've known each other for a while — it's time for a reintroduction. Everything is always shifting and evolving, including ourselves and our contributions to the world. I'm Cristina A. Moraru, a self-worth mentor-storyteller and psychology researcher dedicated to rebalancing the androcentric and masculine biases that have historically dominated our world. This distortion affects not only what is seen as valid knowledge but also who is perceived as rational. My work’s guiding principle is to shine a spotlight on women's knowledge gained from lived experiences and the feminine qualities present in all humans. I explore the intersections of science and spirituality as critical avenues for this rebalancing. I support this through my podcast, Worthful Woman, where I interview experts at these intersections. As a mentor-storyteller, I address the negative impacts of historical and societal demeaning of feminine self-expressions, focusing on how they affect women. As a woman with a predominantly feminine self-expression, claiming my self-worth has been a consistent theme throughout my life. Through Worthful Woman, I am sharing my embodied learnings and holding space for other women on similar journeys. My goal is to help them hear and follow their own authentic voice, by recognizing how external judgments and expectations are often shaped by masculine defaults and patriarchal norms.
