Celebrating Queer-Led and Queer-Supporting Sustainable Fashion Brands in Austria 🏳️🌈🌿 In the fashion industry, #genderinequality and #identity struggles continue to impact many, including the LGBTQ+ community. Queer designers and brands often face challenges and barriers to recognition, yet they lead the way in driving change, championing sustainability, and fostering inclusivity. Marginalized or superficially addressed in the sustainability debate, queer perspectives contribute vitally to an intersectional understanding of sustainability, linking their view of the world and their role within it to their identity. Thoughts Thursday: The Importance of Representation in Media and Fashion 🌟📸 In recent years, I've noticed a positive shift in representation, with more disabled creators sharing their experiences and initiatives like Runway of Dreams making strides in fashion inclusivity. However, while we're seeing some progress, there's still a long way to go. Representation matters. Seeing disabled individuals in media and fashion not only fosters a sense of inclusion but also challenges stereotypes and broadens perspectives. It's crucial that these industries continue to evolve, ensuring that everyone's story is told and celebrated. Let's advocate for a world where representation is not the exception but the norm. What steps do you think media and fashion can take to improve representation and inclusivity?

This is something that should be carefully considered ⬇️ Size inclusivity aims to promote a more inclusive and diverse fashion industry by creating clothing that is available in a wide range of sizes, including plus sizes. ✨ The goal is for people to more easily find clothing that fits and makes them feel confident, but it's important to understand that this a complex issue. ➡️ Keep in mind, much like gender neutral sizing, there are some challenges to being size inclusive. Excited to reflect on the incredible experience of hosting an engaging workshop at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, exploring the fascinating realm of "Fashion Beyond Gender Norms - Styling for Individuality." Witnessing the participants immerse themselves in the session, sharing personal stories of defying gender norms in fashion, was truly heartwarming. Their eagerness to absorb styling tips for breaking free from the confining box of binary gender norms highlighted a collective desire for change. It's crucial to nurture these budding talents, for they are the architects of tomorrow's fashion landscape. As they scribbled down tips and tricks, I couldn't help but feel optimistic about the impact they will make in the industry. Embracing gender inclusivity and shattering traditional stereotypes in fashion is not just a choice; it's a responsibility. Fashion and styling, in my belief, are inherently expressive and transcend any predefined gender norms. Let's encourage a culture where creativity knows no boundaries. I'm confident that these emerging minds will play a pivotal role in steering fashion towards a more inclusive and diverse future. Here's to celebrating individuality and paving the way for a fashion world that truly reflects the richness of human expression! So many good points in this. Fashion and its marketing are so influencial, I think the industry truly looking to cater to people's needs is so important. Also, I never really thought of this, but this sentence really reflects reality: 'Gender-neutral meanwhile conjures up images of clothing officially devoid of gender expression but, in reality, just ‘masculine by default’ – think baggy trousers and oversized shirts – with the femininity that exists within the notion of true gender neutrality sadly lost.' Discussions like this are crucial to moving forward as a society in a less gender discriminatory and body shaming society, as well as adopting more sustainable practices in the production and cusumption of fashion.
