VP, Chief Impact Officer @ Nike

Today, the World Health Organization (WHO) released concerning new data on the rising level of physical inactivity in adults, reporting that 31% of adults do not get the physical activity needed to thrive, with women at least 5% less likely to participate in sports/movement than men. As a member of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), Nike is proud to be teaming up with world’s biggest sporting goods companies to drive global changes that will lead to more movement for all. We can have greater impact when we work together, and it will require all of us, alongside public sector policy makers and the World Health Organization, to address this global physical inactivity crisis.   At Nike, we’re dedicated to doing this work every day. From initiatives like the Nike Community Ambassador program to our collaboration with our network of local, national and global community partners, Nike teammates are helping to increase access and opportunity for inclusive, fun, youth-centered play, leading with girls. This is also why we’re so focused on revolutionizing the future of coaching. We know great coaches are gamechangers.   Everyone deserves an opportunity to fall in love with movement and to live their best, healthiest lives. And, that begins with youth.    Check out the WFSGI joint statement on physical inactivity levels here: https://lnkd.in/ebte5zg2    #physicalactivity #sportinggoods #WFSGI #justdoit

Nike supported Sadili Oval Sports Academy sports program in Kenya more than 15 years ago, when they helped initiate that Sports for Social Change Network in Kenya. As a result of the social change program and quality kitting, we were able to run a football league for 70 junior teams in langata and Kibera, fully kitted and trained to play and support their community, planted over 30,000 trees in Kibera, Langata and the Ngong Road Forest, winning the Total Eco challenge award. Today, our former players and coaches are inspired leaders who play football for the Kenya Premier league, other nationwide leagues and top teams abroad. And even better, a large number continue to build their communities by using football for both girls and boys… #socialchange #SSCN #NIKEfootball

Coaching is a vital part to youth athletes developing a love for the game, health, and wellness. Thank you for sharing these resources for parents/mentors looking to support the next generation.

The Caitlin Clark Foundation is proud to join Nike in expanding access to sport for all children—especially those in underserved communities. By engaging youth through sports, we can help them develop both the healthy living habits and life-long skills of teamwork, communication, and perseverance that will serve them in chasing their dreams!

Big multinational companies should sponsor or donate to high school programs to help kids stay active.
