June has been intense and rewarding, thanks to our incubator in5 Dubai. We had the opportunity to meet excellent speakers with experience in the investment world Maria Carolina Romero, legal aspects Bianca Gracias, public speaking Niki Skene, and attended the In5 gala in Dubai where we heard a "shark" discuss, in an interview with Neil Sheth, how to build a successful global company. Additionally, we participated in a networking event at the offices of Global Venture Dubai. It's a pleasure to surround oneself with people from whom you can always learn... You never stop learning; life is a journey. It's up to you to make it wonderful and full of knowledge and experiences, bringing value to the market and society, contributing to a better future. I am motivated by the idea of... "leaving the world a better place than I found it"... We're striving to achieve this... How did our Kazakhstani startup SET24 make it to the IT forum in Saudi Arabia? It all began swiftly: in February, we became residents of Astana Hub and almost immediately got the opportunity to represent our country at the international exhibition LEAP 2024. The exhibition is very extensive; we presented our project at the stand in the Kazakhstani pavilion to the Minister of Digital Development, Bagdat Musin, and ministers from Saudi Arabia. We interacted with Kazakhstani startups and representatives of our business. We plan to establish connections in Kazakhstan, collaborate, and develop together. Informally, we also engaged with representatives from other countries. Invitations were extended to do business in Turkey, Malaysia, and others. We received a couple of proposals for various forms of cooperation, including opening a company in Saudi Arabia. The niche in which we operate here also exists there, but at a different level; we are slightly ahead. On a positive note, the country is safe, and the level of theft will be even lower. This is a significant advantage for our micro-markets. The availability of food is also not quite at our level, so our solution may be in demand there. Currently, we are deciding as a team whether to start cooperation, look for distributors, or enter this region at all. In conclusion, the key takeaway is that one must definitely utilize any opportunities and participate in international exhibitions, broaden one's horizons, as our SET24 project was always intended for export. The exhibition became the first step towards exploring and understanding how our business model can develop abroad.

In my opinion, reaching out to an investor who's already involved with a competitor is a strategy that's both intriguing and complex. On one hand, their experience and interest in your sector could offer invaluable insights and support for your startup. It's a clear indication that they understand the market and see potential in it, which could work in your favor. On the other hand, their commitment to a competitor might cloud their judgment or limit their willingness to invest in direct competition. This delicate balance between potential benefits and drawbacks makes it a decision that shouldn't be taken lightly. What do other startups think about the pros and cons of approaching a competitor's investor? How do you see this strategy from your position, and what considerations might sway your decision? Sneaking into UAE’s most recognizable brand innovation day - I loved it! Thank you, Ismail, for the invitation, amazing event! Not only because of the startups presented but also because, by accident, I had an amazing investor experience. What happened? How many times has a founder (even with a project ideally suited for you) just started throwing their pitch at you like a machine gun? I had such a humanistic experience yesterday, just because a founder saw investors like me as humans, not just walking wallets. He just asked one magic question: “What’s your background?” BEFORE PITCHING You might say, "Wow, what’s special about that?" I’ll tell you. Because he collected useful information for his fundraising purpose and, at the same time, didn’t flood me with irrelevant information that would make any investor a bit irritated. Then, he really adjusted his message so it's relevant to my background. In times when I have many pitch decks sent to me via LinkedIn with generic intro messages, that was really amazing Akram! Btw, the region is not yet famous for deep tech solutions, but I see it’s coming. Just by seeing solutions like Akram's AR Engineering or my ever favourite intella. For me personally, that’s just confirmation that placing myself here in the Middle East was the right choice. 💯 P.S. Thank you, Emirates, for spoiling the inner child in me with the toy plane model. Because we all love toys, right? 😅
