I joined a great panel today at the #ITF2024 summit in Leipzig to discuss the role of Governments in mitigating transport’s impact on climate, biodiversity and vulnerable communities. I presented how Multilateral Development Banks such as The World Bank use their social and environmental safeguards policies to make sure that the transport investments that we finance are a triple win for People, Planet and Climate. We had an interesting conversation on the critical role of early planning, breaking silos and sound stakeholders engagement in order to achieve our development and climate ambitions and to protect biodiversity. Many thanks to my fellow panelists Cristina Albuquerque from the World Resources Institute, Julia Baker from Mott MacDonald, Rana Adib from REN21, Yannick Autret from the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, and to Malithi Fernando from ITF for the lively moderation.
Thank you Nicolas and all for this great time of exchange. If you want to deepen the biodiversity side please have a look @https://bison-transport.eu/deliverables/ IENE - Infrastructure Ecology Network Europe (official page) and ITTECOP programme Infrastructures, territoires, transports, énergies, écosystèmes et paysages are also strongly involved on those topics
Nicolas Peltier it was a great discussion, especially about the triple win!
Thanks for joining us, Nicolas! Loved the examples you brought to the discussion!
