I loved this conversation, particularly the focus on the role of managers and leadership in managing employee mental health. I took two major learnings from this (which are also taught in IBM's Mental Health Ally badge): 1. As a leader, think about the impact of your actions: - Managing the holistic individual can go a long way to inspire followership. Knowing where your people are at and reflecting your asks of their work demonstrates huge EQ and leads to better outcomes long term. Example: Does that task email need to be sent directly after a 1:1 where a team member showed signs of struggling? - Your people are smart and can see straight through martydom management. Truly demonstrating your ability to look after yourself shows them that you'll look after them, too. 2. Less solution, be a human: In a working scenario, our default is to take a problem statement and want to create a fix. It's what most of us are paid for, after all. Questions like "What help have you gotten?" or "How are you re-balancing?" may seem well-intentioned, but can add to existing mental conflict and stress. Simply listening or offering up support without condition can go a long way. Thank you Nickle LaMoreaux for leading from the front on this topic and being an example to us all.

🔦 I'm very happy to share that on Friday I completed training the 3rd cohort of Mental Health Coaches through the leading Mental Health Coach program certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). 🎉 🎊 This remarkable group of professionals, ranging from major tech company processionals to impactful KOLs in wellbeing as well as coaches serving individual clients across diverse niches, are poised to make a tremendous impact in the lives of thousands of people through helping them optimize their effectiveness as well as wellbeing. 🌟 👏 As a staunch advocate for mental alignment, I'm grateful for the opportunity to train diverse professionals to become Mental Health Coaches and I am immensely proud about the transformational journeys they undergo during the trainings that then enable them to take other leaders on similar journeys. I love the stories my students then share about the impact they make using the tools provided to them. 🔊 I also enjoy working directly with executives, leaders, and teams, utilizing the methodologies I teach, to enable optimized experiences for all clients.
