As a great musician once said, all good things must pass. I saw this day coming a few years back as I watched friends and colleagues retire and now that the day is here, it’s hard to believe. After my first job delivering newspapers 50 years ago in Omaha (newspaper boy of the month) and working pretty much continuously since then as a busboy & cook assistant at Mr. Steak, radiology patient runner, phlebotomist & lab tech at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Air Force military resident & physician, private practice primary care provider at Shawnee Mission, residency director at Intermountain Healthcare and the last 20 years working for Cerner in an industry changing role, it’s time to step back and relax a bit. First and foremost, thanks to everyone who mentored me along the way and helped be me better in whatever role I was in. I’m not sure what’s next but for now looking forward to getting off the treadmill for a while and figuring that out. Guessing walks and bike rides & photographing random sunrises, sunsets, sunflowers and clouds will still be a part of my daily routine. Can’t post without including a few of those ID cards I managed to save along the way. . Haven’t aged at all.
