#ICYMI NGA continues to provide #GEOINT and satellite imagery that documents North Korea’s ongoing human rights violations. Two partners who use this #intelligence spoke recently at NGA Washington: 🌐 U.S. Department of State Ambassador Julie Turner thanked NGA and the #IC for providing her with the tools needed to keep calling out the North Korean regime. ⚖️ The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea Director Greg Scarlatoiu highlighted that NGA products have been used in 24 of their reports documenting North Korea’s policy of human rights denial. Happy #July4th from NGA! 🎆 🎆 #DYK In July 1777, General George Washington created the Defense Mapping Agency, which produced over 200 detailed maps. These maps gave Washington superior terrain knowledge, enabling him to outmaneuver the British. One of their maps is this Hudson Highlands map from July 1779. Generals Washington and Wayne used this map to plan the successful surprise attack on Stony Point where an American militia empowered by #cartography emerged victorious. Today, we celebrate America’s independence and the role maps played in achieving our hard earned and long beloved freedom. 🗺️

NGA may soon be able to predict the future. 🔮 🔮 How? Satellite imagery with #AI can enable NGA to better anticipate events of geopolitical significance and impending crises: You're going to see a drought here and that may lead to civil unrest. Traditionally, analysis is retroactive, but with AI, satellite imagery can be used to forecast what is likely to happen in the future. Learn more about how AI will continue to revolutionize #GEOINT from NGA’s Data and Digital Innovation Director Mark Munsell 📰➡️ https://bit.ly/3L0V9eS
