As seen with the recent George Building collapse, a structural collapse on a construction site is sudden and catastrophic. Sufficient literature has been developed over centuries on the appropriate construction of concrete structures.
Each structural collapse will have its own tell-tale signs of the reason for the collapse, when determining the root cause of the collapse. But is usually too late and the damage done.
Implementing and maintaining a comprehensive health, safety and quality management system at the commencement of a construction project and maintaining that system through the entire construction period can prevent these occurences.
