Startups bring HR in too late... That was the post. I disagree with that statement. Here’s why. Startups don’t need robust HR departments in the beginning. Because you can’t hire one person who does everything in HR and you can’t devote those resources to a department that won’t exist if you don’t have a team. The best HR teams have several experts, and they are expensive. Your best bet is to outsource to a PEO. People argue about how will the PEO create the culture. They won’t. But if you can’t offer benefits, 401k, payroll, etc, and a future then culture isn’t your concern. You need people to have a culture. And getting the best talent is about what you can offer them.
