Exciting developments from the Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC)! 🚀 Over 125 startups, including industry leaders like Zerodha, EaseMyTrip, and Cars24, have committed to preliminary on-boarding with ONDC. During a recent event organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), notable names such as OfBusiness, Winzo, Livspace, GlobalBees, Pristyn Care, Physics Wallah, and Policybazaar also signed letters of intent. Launched two years ago, ONDC aims to democratize digital commerce, fostering visibility for products and services while bringing local sellers into the digital fold. With over 500,000 sellers already onboard, 70% of which are small or medium-sized, ONDC has facilitated approximately 7.22 million transactions in April 2024 alone. T Koshy, MD and CEO of ONDC, highlighted the network's hyper-local demand and significant traction from small towns, showcasing its nationwide appeal. While established players like Amazon and Flipkart are in discussions to join ONDC, their integration may take time due to existing setups. The government has emphasized that ONDC creates opportunities for all, including large e-commerce companies. Atul Mehta, CEO of Domestic Shipping at Shiprocket, praised ONDC's reach, enabling sellers to access remote markets seamlessly.
